i55 Day Two Summary

August 29, 2015

With the second day of Insomnia55 in the books, we bring you a summary of the action and a look at what’s to come on day three.

Brackets Continue

The day began with froyotech and nerdRage.tf2 dismantling Reason and The Last Resort, respectively, to book their place in the upper finals. In the upper finals, froyotech took the first map of Product fairly convincingly, but then lost the next two in very close fashion to be handed their first best-of-three LAN loss and knocked down to the lower finals by nerdRage.tf2.

In the lower bracket, Danger Dogs and Ascent were able to easily overcome their opponents in the lower round of 12. Ascent then took a simple victory against crack clan and Saints upset Danger Dogs to move into the top 6. Ascent then overcome The Last Resort and Reason handily beat Saints to set up a rematch of their upper bracket match from yesterday. Reason barely come out on top in this match, knocking Ascent out of the tournament in 4th place.

Day Three

We begin the day bright and early at 11:00 BST. Only our three finalists remain standing in the tournament. The action starts with the lower finals, with froyotech, who was dropped to the lower bracket after a very close match in the upper finals, facing off against Reason Gaming, who conquered the rest of the lower bracket. The winner of this match will move on to the grand finals, where they will face off against nerdRage.tf2, the upper bracket winner, in an epic best-of-five series to determine the champion.

the only day i was able to attend i55 is sunday. Would've been great to have watched the amazing plays from Zebbo + co as they gwapped 4G and the ridiculous snakewater stalemate of Ascent and Reason. Nevertheless I'm sure tomorrow will go down in the books for some of the best tf2 played ever.

Reason looked a lot better today (as did Ascent, RIP), but Froyotech has looked soo good... I think Froyotech will take it in 2 close maps unless Reason can continue to really improve.

In the final, I'm still favoring nR. They'll be well-rested... I think they'll take the GF in 5 maps, it'll be really close but nR should have the edge, particularly if Zebbo keeps showing up the way he has.

Froyo are a pretty emotional team it's just they are good enough that most people don't realize it, but what sets them off to play with a burning passion isn't being insulted or doing very well, no it is losing, after froyo lost in esea finals they came back strong completely destroying 5 dollar club and ascent, now Nerdrage have just unlocked the froyotech fire(ice?) so it will take reason playing very well to be able to beat froyo and if they play well enough or froyo plays extremely well Nerrage will have a tough game in the final, although it's nice to know that the idiots who said that both NA teams would finish after dogs or that Reason would roll throught the upper bracketss were all wrong, heck even the froyo fanboys were wrong! This tournament so far in my opinion has been better than any of the past lans I have seen there is deffinently no clear winner and both TLR and Ascent appeared to be in it until they were knocked out. If I58 is half this good it will be well worth the ten thousand dollars to illegally sneak Shadowburn out of Russia.

froyo didn't get this strong without learning from their mistakes. plenty of teams have put up very strong performances against the team throughout their time, but no other team has been able to adapt and bounce back as strongly as they have. getting rolled by mix in the online zowie tournament back in s16, losing group stage matches at i52, and being knocked into lower bracket in the esea playoffs. every single time it's happened, they own up to their mistakes, decide what needs to be done, and make no excuses.

looking forward to seeing froyo surprise everyone with how quickly they can adapt and learn from their missteps today. and i'm amazed at how well b4nny has been playing on pocket -- he's absolutely on another level and everyone can learn a ton from watching him.

Nerd rage played INSANELY well against Froyotech, it amazes me. (Especially Zebbosai, dropping shade a few times)
I am a Froyotech-fan and my heart is definitely cheering for Froyotech, but nerdRage is playing so well, I can't really predict the outcome. Maybe Reason will step up against Froyotech and actually have an EU vs EU grand finals, but this seems almost impossible, unless Reason plays out of their mind.
Being a Froyo-fan saying this, I think nerdRage will be the i55 winners this time, especially with nerdRage having much more time to strategize and rest. If nerdRage plays just like they did in the upper brackets against Froyotech, I don't see nerdRage losing i55.
Just my thoughts before the grand finals, I can be completely wrong.

EDIT: Froyotech won the grand finals against nerdRage in such a dominant way! I was actually wrong and congratulations to Froyotech for winning i55, the defending world champions!

I am cheering for Froyotech, I hope they come back strong and win i55!
Anyways, Lansky are you coming back to tf2 anytime soon?

EDIT: I know you get this question like 20 times a day, but you being my favorite pocket of all time, I'm a bit curious.

Can confirm, spent a while with froyotech last night and all the talk was centered on that game and how they were going to smash it today
