Razer throw the TF2 community a bone with cash prize tournaments alongside active development based on feedback and we give them feeble 8 team signups?! Ah, but you don’t want to signup if it means getting crushed by top teams...? Well I’ve got just the thing for you dear reader! It is my pleasure to introduce the TF2Pickup.net Open Rumble, a new multi-week European tournament series sponsored by TF2Pickup.net, serveme.tf, TF2 Warehouse and TF2 Outpost and hosted on Razer Arena.
How will these events benefit you, you ask? Each tournament will be limited to teams within defined skill brackets. This will mean that your team won’t be participating in a tournament simply to be knocked out in the first round by the likes of [R]eason or TLR, giving you a genuine chance to claim the prizes. Ah, prizes! Our lovely sponsors have indeed promised a veritable glut of prizes for the finalists in every tournament. Oh and about the finals, they will be casted - surely a bonus for the budding fragvid editor after some hype audio.
So there you have it, some great reasons to signup and test your mettle against similarly skilled teams in an official scenario outside the regular season.
Format
The tournaments will be hosted on Razer Arena, with every match being a single game until the finals which will be a best-of-three. Participation will limited by the highest level of competitive experience you have, unless you have actively played in the majority of your team’s officials in the previous season. This means no higher division mercs.
Prizes
TF2Pickup.net and serveme.tf have kindly donated the following for the lucky finalists of the first tournament:
- 1st: 6x Professional killstreak kits, 3x serveme 3month server subscriptions
- 2nd: 6x Specialized killstreak kits, 2x serveme 3month server subscriptions
- 3rd: 6x Killstreak kits, 1x serveme 3month server subscription
