High ping on some servers that used to be fine

Tried to search for this issue all over the web but couldn't find anything about it. This past week I've been experiencing terrible ping (>130) to servers that i usually had <40 on. I know that you want to write "stop torrenting porn lol your internet prob is shit", but the catch is the fact that this only happens to about 1 in 4 servers.
So let's say that skial server i play on every now and then gives me a connection of >130 ping (when it used to give around 40), but another server that i used to have 50 ping on still gives me 50.
Is this a problem with my ISP or is there anything I could to to my computer that might help? I have 100/10 fiber connection.

Having the same problem :(
Occasionly when i play on any server (dedicated, valve pubs, mvm) my game freezes and net_graph shows 500 ping.
I cant move but can still hear people using the voicechat. Idk if its a TF2 issue only because thats the only multiplayer game i play :l

I'm not talking about ping spikes, I'm talking about constant 150 ping, as if that that french server I'm playing on was located on east coast NA. If no one has a clue about why this is, does anyone at least know what interp settings I should use with that kind of connection, as it so far has affected pretty much every comp server I've been on?

It's most likely a routing issue - it can even happen to servers in the same city (for example server A. is in city X, as is server B. however server B gives 150+ ping for inexplicable reasons).

Chances are, the server itself or one of the places you use to *get* to that server is especially heavily loaded, under maintenance, or malfunctioning somehow, so you're being routed to some wacky place first, and then back again.

I know the worst example I ever had, was for some reason, one night whenever I tried to connect to a Chi ESEA server, my internet would *start* to go to Chi, and then turn around and go to NY ---) Washington DC and THEN to Chicago - which is a pretty *big* trip out of the way (which cave me 150+ ping for a server I could drive to fairly easily) lol. If you can find out who hosts the server, you can try contacting your ISP and/or the server provider and asking if they're having some sort of problem - occasionally they can actually fix such routing issues for you. I know Tooth had to do that with NFO servers lol they were just doing wacky things with his ISP.

If you're on windows you can look at where you're going this way:

CMD --) tracert (IP here) for example: tracert 192.510.253 etc etc

That will then give you a listing of a bunch of ips - then you just google "iplookup" and type in the IPs it gives you to see where they are geographically to find out what the hold up is - you may also see places timing out which can mean outtages or overload etc.

Do you have ComHem?

I'm having the same kind of issues as you have and this issue is a lot bigger in another game (world of warships) where everyone in sweden using comhem has the exact same issue (high ping, package loss). My ping issues started a few days ago.

Oh yeah I have ComHem actually. Seems like they never can do anything right.

I used to have a problem like this and it turned out that my Wi-Fi adapter inside my machine was busted so I got this little dongle thing called GWF-4B06 Ralink RT5572 and it worked fine.

if your isp won't fix it you can force a different route by going through a vpn (make sure u get a good one that is close to the server location or your location)

also if you have constant ping then just use the same interp as normal (or possibly a bit higher like 0.02).
optimal interp settings depend on your jitter not your ping.
