If I use the katana in mge and I die with it out then a few seconds later it deletes it from my character. When I try to switch to my melee it doesn't work and if I already had my melee out when it got deleted then it just shows me with the melee pose but not holding a weapon, I can't attack, I can't taunt, and I have civilian pose in third person.
How do I fix this

It's probably server sided, but besides that. Katana in mge lol? You get your health back after you kill someone anyway lol

That's it. I'm sick of all this "Vintage Eyelander" bullshit that's going on in the drop system right now. Half-Zatoichis deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that. I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a Genuine Half-Zatoichi in Steam for 50 dollars (that's about $50) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 updates now. I can even cut slabs of solid Heavy with my Half-Zatoichi. Community smiths spend years modeling a single Half-Zatoichi and texture it up to a million times to produce the finest items known to TF2kind. Half-Zatoichis are thrice as sharp as BLU swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything an Eyelander can cut through, a Half-Zatoichi can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a Half-Zatoichi could easily bisect a Demoknight wearing a Chargin' Targe with a simple vertical slash. Ever wonder why medieval BLU never bothered conquering RED? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Demoknights and their Half-Zatoichis of domination. Even in Dustbowl, BLU Soldiers targeted the Demomen with the Half-Zatoichis first because their killing power was feared and respected. So what am I saying? Half-Zatoichis are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the drop system.

I've been tweaking MGEMod just for kicks, but I've also been attempting to fix any bugs I run across. I don't have time to test this right now, but guessing from how you described it, it sounds like either MGE is doing something weird when restoring ammo (I can't find anything in the code that would obviously cause this), or the honorbound attribute is messing with the respawn code in the game, which MGE calls early to spawn you immediately after you die. I will attempt to fix whatever is happening later this week.
If you have "remember active weapon" enabled in advanced options, try disabling it and see if that fixes it, or vice versa.

Once we get good enough we're going to burst into a crime den and slay all the criminals and it'll be just like running a Dragon Warrior dungeon...
