We should have an entire sub forum so that 17 year olds with no jobs can get donations from random people online.
you dont get donations because nobody wants to watch you play tf2
shadowburn gets donation because some people want to watch him play tf2
who cares

"I am so INCREDIBLY AFFECTED over people asking for financial help from whoever that decides out of the kindness of their heart to provide it and even though I have NO CLUE what their life situation is atm so I'll just make uneducated assumptions about their livestyles and obviously their laziness and how they can't just get a job in a country with a different financial setting than mine so I'll make a thread about it since the original thread got locked after I derailed it because I Cannot Take The Hint".

I have absolutely no problem with people asking for donations, even begging for free money. Who are you or anyone else to tell me how to spend my money?
My personal feelings for TF2 related donations we have seen is that I have no problem at all giving a donation to a team/individual who needs the money to get to LAN as travel expenses. The last 3 iSeries have been like watching your favorite TV program or newly released movie. I spend money to watch the things I enjoy watching, everyone does.
I do have a major problem with ppl asking for donations to upgrade their computer. Get the fuck out of here with that load of bullshit. Don't tell me you need it to play a game like TF2 cause that is just more shit. People like that will never see a cent from me.

MattCVPerhaps the tftv add ons was a bad example, nowhere have I dismissed the value of what you do for the tf2 community.
I have already mentioned that there are donation drives I think are worthwhile and have put money towards them myself.
However this passive aggressive guilt trip post is a bit much in away, you should only be doing these things if you feel comfortable to do so and in a financial situation to do it as well.
Again you have done far more for the community than I ever will and this post wasn't really aimed at you, I had hazy memories of a donation drive for tftv personal and thought it was not in best taste.
However it should be clear in my responses that my point is to stop the whole "buy me a new PV or send me to an event i could easily afford to get too myself" type of donation drives.
If people want to see these people go to the events and donating is the only way to get them there, what does it matter that they can't afford it on their own? Your argument makes no sense. If the viewers really want to see Shadowburn play at an events but he can't afford it, then why should you try and stop them from spending their own money to get something they want?

This is so far removed from what Pheesh was saying that it's completely irrelevant and I'm shocked you were upfragged. Someone lying and taking donations that were explicitly intended for a hospital and using them to buy himself a laptop is vastly different from a separate, innocent individual choosing to use his money in other ways than donating. Did you not even see trash's post?

tl:dr people can donate if they want to if the one asking for donations isnt lying about what the money is used for
Matt can you donate some €€€ to my paypal I wanna go shopping
Monetizing one's personal activity and immaterial output on the internet is actually the best direction in which we could go, in a socio-economic sense and in an "advancement of the internet" sense.
So please keep asking money for things! Supply/demand will work itself out; if a cause is truly disgenuine, then nobody will pay.
