Library of BabelThe Library of Babel is a place for scholars to do research, for artists and writers to seek inspiration, for anyone with curiosity or a sense of humor to reflect on the weirdness of existence - in short, it’s just like any other library. If completed, it would contain every possible combination of 1,312,000 characters, including lower case letters, space, comma, and period. Thus, it would contain every book that ever has been written, and every book that ever could be - including every play, every song, every scientific paper, every legal decision, every constitution, every piece of scripture, and so on. At present it contains all possible pages of 3200 characters, about 104677 books.
Since I imagine the question will present itself in some visitors’ minds (a certain amount of distrust of the virtual is inevitable) I’ll head off any doubts: any text you find in any location of the library will be in the same place in perpetuity. We do not simply generate and store books as they are requested - in fact, the storage demands would make that impossible. Every possible permutation of letters is accessible at this very moment in one of the library's books, only awaiting its discovery. We encourage those who find strange concatenations among the variations of letters to write about their discoveries in the forum, so future generations may benefit from their research.

We have our own dedicated page, library of bable confirmed supporter of comp tf2.

It can be reasonably surmised that first there was competitive tf2, and of it became the universe.

It's pretty simple mathematically to just get a string of letters and type it out in different orders over and over. That said, it's still an interesting thing to have available.

I was trying to think of what to search for, and after looking up and finding drek from my own steam profile, I typed in my deepest secrets and saw them written. They're available for anyone to see, as well as every possible 3200-character lie that I could tell about them, as well as those same things happening to someone else, if you just go to the right page. Huh. What a trip.
Good find, Deathy.

So deep. ( ͡o ͜ʖ ͡o)

This is at the same time so simple and so strange.
It's simple if you don't consider the page numbers and books.
But if you look at those, you realize that each segment has a unique location. It really is all there. Somewhere. Scattered, and at some point in the future, combined.

If you haven't checked it out yet the image archives are really cool, you can search through all of the possible images of certain dimensions and find a page for any picture you give it. Though I didn't quite get the point of it, I enjoyed looking at the Coloroscopy page with all the changing color gradients. Found myself refreshing over and over trying to get colors I liked.
The theory section of the site is pretty interesting too, talks about Borges' short story (the inspiration behind the site) and how he envisioned the library to be laid out with the hexagonal patterning and stuff
