I think that a cultural shift needs to take place in NA TF2. Other scenes have a majority of their events on weekends and it isn't an issue for them. Weekends are a time that won't interfere with other leagues like ESEA, and having an entire day or two days in a row to get your tournament completed is a huge plus (as opposed to trying to get many matches played across an entire week). People will also be chillin at home watching video games on weekends.

yeah idk why saturday like one day a month is an issue LOL
also the cafe monster roster is gonna either gonna be patchworked together or possibly not showing at all 'cause several people have work (ironic given my first comment, I know) and several others don't want to play tf2 at all right now

Trust me I want to play, but some people have to work full time and it's unrealistic that some people can make Saturday's, especially mid afternoon. In our case we work weekend and don't just chill at home and watch games so pretty hard to make it. Just saying it doesn't work for everyone

other scenes also, you know, are fulltime sources of incomes for players

Yeah but there's plenty of amateur and semi-pro players who make time to play on weekends.
To luc's point I agree that some people don't have as much time to play but that's just something your team will have to take into account when they pick you up. There's scrim teams, no scrim teams, teams that play on weekends, and teams that don't play on weekends. To adjust for these events you could expand your roster or choose to not participate in the event. Tournament organizers shouldn't hold themselves back from putting on an event just because a few teams can't play.

The TF2 money in Europe is nowhere near what NA has because of ESEA and weekend cups in Europe generally aren't a problem (if the date is known in advance as it usually is)

That NA 6's teams don't usually play on weekends especially Saturdays is entirely an NA 6's thing not an eSports scene thing. The Europeans can do it and Highlander does it every week.

I love weekend tf2 but with my luck this was the one weekend I decide to visit my parents
So we should ask the question.. why did everyone forfeit everything? Did they not care? Was it because it was a Saturday? Nobody was around? Because there was no second place prize? It might be helpful to know what happened so we can avoid this and structure tournaments better next time.

I can't speak for everyone but
cafe monster as a team basically died, they originally took the razer tourney as an opportunity to build up towards next season but decided that they would not be playing next season and various players did not want to play at all
on top of this, it wasn't planned very well and most of the players that would've played had work or were unavailable
I was offered the spot/roster if I could put together a team to play but I felt it was unfair to play since the tournament had a qualifier and no more than one or two people that had played in a game to qualify would be playing in the finals
I definitely think it was silly of people to no show, even if you would've had 1/2 your roster it still would've been worth it for the sake of it.
I want to also point out that the timing of this cup kind of sucked because a lot of rosters at all skill levels are in flux at this current moment due to it being the end to offseason

yes most teams that were in the tournament died in the middle of it

When our team signed up we were under the impression we'd have options on which night to play. Since there weren't enough signups and all games ended up being played Wednesday evenings (the one night we couldn't make it), we had to forfeit all our games. Despite this, we somehow still qualified for the semi-finals, but by the time we realized this (I wasn't expecting an 0-5 team to reach the semi-finals) I wasn't able to assemble enough people on our roster to play today.
I'm not sure if the format was changed, if I misunderstood the tourney system, or both.

I have no idea what's going to happen here, but it would be amazing to see these teams fight it out tooth and nail next season.
Do we have a bracket somewhere for this tournament?
