Ratz Instagib is 1$ right now
Really fun to play, but this game needs more players

Skyrim has been on my wishlist for around a year now but I haven't bothered buying it but when I say that it was on sale for 5 bucks, I decided "hey why not?" and bought it with the last little bit of money I had in my Steam wallet. It just finished downloading and I'm pumped to play it.
Dying Light is super fun got it two days ago and have been playing it a shitton. $20 tho so a bit more than other sales
h1z1 is 12.99 right now, early access alpha, id buy at own risk but after giving it a second chance i've enjoyed myself so much.
High recommend dying light, its a really good zombie game and the devs put crazy support and work in to it.
I bought the Star Wars: Jedi Knight pack for 6 euros (5 games) totally worth it.

In terms of dollar/hours of entertainment Morrowind is a really great buy especially with the ovehaul mods installed
Playing through Divinity: Original Sin with a friend in co-op was one of the most memorable coop experiences I've had. If you have a friend willing to play with you, definitely buy it. Even if you don't, singleplayer is so amazingly fun.

It's honestly just Supreme Commander re polished with shitty money grab expansions.
If you want a game like it with a much better single player experience and is also pretty cheap for the base game and all the expansions.

If you're a really huge fan of rpgs like Baldurs Gate the game Pillars of Eternity is the modern successor to that game in terms of game play and strength of story/characters.
Divinity looks better and has more polished combat but has forgettable story and characters imo.
