When I play on a regular server I get around 70-100 fps but when I play matchingmaking I get around 25-30. Does this happen to anyone else and does anyone know if there is a way to fix this?
you need to use dxlevel 9 which might be a problem for u
Are you using an fps config? If you are then matchmaking disables it, which means gibs and stuff get enabled dropping fps.
try -sillygibs. i havent tried it in mm but i would imagine itll help fps for the time being.

I've played around 5 mm games and have had dx8 with no issues so either that's not true or I'm a hacker

My fps literally went down after each game. 1st game in today's matchmaking was gully for me, I had consistent ~50fps. Then I hopped into another game and it dropped to 40fps (on process). Afterwards, 3rd game on gully AGAIN and I had 27-30fps. what the heck.

AFAIK you can play in dx8 if a friend is hosting the lobby and running dx9

I'm pretty sure I use dx9 anyways.

I think you can get past the dxlevel9 restriction if your in a party and someone else starts the queue, not sure though. Yesterday I used dx8 in a party, but today when I solo queued I had to use dx9. Dunno if this is fixed.
Yeah, I'm getting a pretty unstable 30fps when I normally get much more at a stable rate. Even tried doing the -default and -autoconfig options instead of a fps config, which only netted me about 10 more fps in MM servers.

whew, I'm not the only one. I got 60+ on the first one, then after probably 10 games I dropped to below 30.
super weird and quite annoying; restarting tf2 every 3 or so games.

Every time i join a game my shadows and something else get set to high and i lose a lot of fps. Should i disable my fps config and use low settings or does the matchmaking just force the high quality settings anyway?

This exact same thing is happening to me, if even more so. About 4 games in I had like 10fps. Wouldn't put it beyond tf2's dev crew to have some sort of memory leak in there by accident, especially considering restarting tf2 gets the frames back to normal for a game.

yeah the fps drop after every game happens to me too (it also happens if the game drags on). However the solution to it (for me atleast) is to restart the game after every game. This only works if the game doesn't drag out (or if its viaduct then ur fps will drop midgame)

Pretty sure it forces high quality settings anyways. I tried disabling my config and using low settings, but it just booted everything up to high when I started playing. It's fucking stupid.

I am getting everything you guys mention, however I get another thing spammed in the console
Invalid color format!
ShaderAPIDX8::CreateD3DTexture: Invalid color format!
It's super frustrating, since I am not using dx8, already by default using dx95, so don't know why it does that.

Im still having this problem but it feels worse after this last update. My fps goes down to 20 in like 3 games. It used to take around 5 or 6 before.
