the biggest issue with the game is the disparity between fun and winning.
a team can be on defense and go 5 roadhog (pudge). This will actually be VERY hard to deal with if you dont have full cooperation from your team.Roadhog is fun to play. You hit your hook, get a free kill, maybe someone else hooks after you, and you back up and heal yourself.
the attacking team now has 2 options: pick the counter to 5 roadhogs and play them correctly (zarya) or lose. This issue exists throughout the game in some form or another. Blizzard doesn't want to put in class limits, which means they dont want to balance around single heroes, but then they also want this to be a watchable esport. It makes little to no sense.
Theres still a lot of time for this game to get better. It's definitely not tf2. The teamwork required and the timing of spell usage makes it different from tf2 but in overwatch clockwork cant just join b4nnys team and consistently get 2-3 kills in a mid or a flank to win you the game. Your entire team needs (like 100%) to be playing well for your team to win which makes it semi unique as far as fps games go.
At the end of the day though its just 6v6 payload and half of the assault ults can kill 6 people before they can react to it which to me isn't fun at all. Blizzard has been open to feedback and clockwork and I have sat down with their esports director already. He's a smart dude. Once him and the design/gameplay team sit down and make the game not feel like a gimmicky 1shot lightfest it will be good (if that happens)
If it doesnt happen, theyre still gonna pump infinite money into marketing and esports, so players who want to live off gaming should be giving it a chance regardless for now. steel started streaming last night, had 700 viewers at 12pm and 5k by midnight. The money, and the plebs will be there. Dismissing it because it's 'lacking as an fps' which is definitely is btw, is probably not the right move if youre looking to stay up to date or want something to do while valve does whatever its doing with tf2.
There are definitely a lot of turn offs in this game. They still have a month before launch and I think we have to remember TF2 launched with dustbowl/goldrush initially with random crits. Time can do miraculous things.
