i built a new computer after having my old one for about 3 years, and after trying to put the maxframes thing in my autoexec file, i launched tf2 and nothing happened, am i a dumbass or am i forgetting something?
Did you download and install Team Fortress 2 on the new computer?
Seriously though, more detail on what exactly you've done would help. Maybe launch it once without the maxframes config to make sure it's not some other problem? I think the game makes/edits its config files depending on the hardware it detects.
Edit:
shiznoi launched tf2 and nothing happened
What do you mean by this? Did the game not start or did the graphics not change?

Do you have your width and height set to your monitor's resolution? For example:
launch options: -dxlevel 81 -full -w 1920 -h 1080 -console -novid -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd

launch options: -dxlevel 81 -full -w 1920 -h 1080 -console -novid -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd
Are you sure your autoexec is saved as autoexec.cfg (all files) and not a .txt file?
