Now that the open beta is over and we're 2 weeks from release, what does everyone think of the game?
Enjoyable as a pub game, but I could never play it competitively, I just can't take it seriously beyond a "pub game".
The lack of dm dependent classes, the lack of movement, just not enjoyable at all for me.

the basic movement and aim mechanics just ruin it for me
i dont really care that much about the balancing of the ults or anything the main thing for me is that shooting and dodging things isnt fun or satisfying

Reasonably enjoyable, with friends
Nowhere near an eSport (yet?)

Seeing the TF2 community trash on it made me play the beta with not a lot of expectations. I actually really enjoyed it. I can see the fun in it competitively and casually.
It's a lot of fun (at times) but there's a lot of issues, both small and large, that prevent it from becoming a truly good or great game. It's hard to see how this game will be competitive.
It's pretty and it's fun if you don't take it too seriously. Kinda like cotton candy in video game form. Running around is slow and the game can stalemate hard and stuns in an FPS are annoying though.
I personally don't enjoy it because of stuff like the ults. I don't enjoy the feeling of having to depend on my team so much to accomplish anything and actually getting a kill feels like it doesn't matter.
I honestly hate this game to the core, but when I played with friends these past few days its been a lot of fun.
But just because something is fun doesn't make it the least bit competitive, there's too many things gameplay-wise of this game that takes away any competitive aspect.

As a shooter, it's awful. As a game that's trying to blend 2 genres, decent.
I can see the fun as a casual game at the moment but since it's still beta and will most likely be improved upon in the future you won't really know where it will go.
A few things that irk me are the lack of a killfeed, poor hitmarkers, and the fact that the snipers are easy to play and can do a lot for the team.
Maybe these will be implemented later on, but it's still a great game overall.

its fun with friends for time to time play
but the game is too much of a visual clusterfuck for me

Was definitely fun to play with friends casually, but a lot of things in the game really pissed me off, mainly auto-aim and wallhack ults, lack of movement and mei. Fuck mei.
I enjoyed playing with friends but i think it would get a bit stale in the long run. Only played around 7 hours
I don't really have an opinion on it from a competitive standpoint yet. Kind of curious to see if they re-balance anything upon release. Right now it definitely has a few elements that I find unpleasant to play around. Anything restricting movement makes me frustrated.
I will say that playing Lucio is the most fun I've ever had playing a support-type class in any game, so that's pretty neat.

A game I would play on the side not a game I would primarly play
An unsurprisingly terribly balanced game with an awful lot of potential which may or may not ever be realised. It's really up to Blizzard and where they want to take this game, I think - there's a lot of bullshit which could definitely still be made not bullshit if they really want to.
It's a glimmer of a phenomenal game buried under a mountain of nonsense IMO. We'll see whether Blizzard choose to move those mountains.

I would play it 2 or 3 times a month with friends if it was free

pretty fun game
pubs are pretty annoying, hopefully ranked play will be better. organized 6v6 is lots of fun, takes an insane amount of coordination though
the game seems like a nightmare to balance, and I could imagine it would get stale if one comp dominates the meta for a long time without nerfs/buffs. who knows though, blizzard might be able to do it. theres also a lot of unique ideas and room for new interesting heros. they can really go anywhere with the skills/abilities they put into the game. overall I can see myself playing it quite a bit
also kudos to blizzard for making a fun melee class that doesn't feel brokenly overpowered or completely useless (reinhardt).

braindead dm but i can see team play being very important
Golden111Just awful.
I'm sorry but it's my opinion.
you are most certainly entitled to your opinion but just saying "i think it's bad sorry guys" doesn't spark any useful discussion
Segnolack of a killfeed
was an option in settings to enable
Segnosnipers are easy to play and can do a lot for the team
despite being true this can basically apply to most of the classes in the game
anyway, personally i think that the $40 pricepoint is pretty steep for what they're offering on release and that either a $15-20 entry point or some sort of f2p/microtransaction model would have been more appropriate. dropped like 20ish hours into the beta and it was overally pretty enjoyable in groups of 3+ but when you just queue with one friend or solo queue the downsides of heavily team reliant/class based games really start to show when people just dont want to work together to make a coherent team or just want to do whatever they want and/or are not willing to listen
and being a blizzard game there probably will be no community support in terms of servers/etc. presumably so if you just want to mindlessly play the game (like people do in tf2 when they go dm/mge or valve/skial pub or something) you don't have a whole lot of options aside from playing against bots?
the feeling (read: not gameplay) of playing this game during beta was pretty similar to that of dirty bomb in that it was relatively polished and developed with some amount of integrity but competitively i think that overwatch won't be any more popular than HotS once the release hype dies down

It doesn't have the same arena fps feel as tf2/quake, it's a pretty different game imo aside from the classes/hero thing.
Toastermfw people say overwatch is going to kill tf2
its not keeping the masses from playing tf2 but its definitely taking a lot of the top talent
