Despite warnings that they would not extend registration this season, ESEA admins have elected to extend registration by one week. All teams will now have until May 24th, 2016 at 11:59pm CDT to get six players paid up to guarantee their spot in the upcoming season. Accordingly, the regular season will now begin on May 29th, 2016.

These are some concerning numbers. Seriously, if you're playing in ESEA this season, do not procrastinate to sign/payup!

That's literally less than a quarter of all the teams currently signed up. And it only includes one out of six teams that's already all paid up.
Still, make sure you sign/pay up ASAP!

that site is only showing open rosters that existed last season

What's concerning is that, while it only shows teams from last season, some of the open teams should be in IM based on tri's post from a week ago, but still havent been moved up, such as not around bears.
trigood news everyone. I've been informed that all playoff teams from open will be moved to IM, instead of only the top 8.
Has ESEA changed their minds again, or will the moveups actually happen?

is there an update about the other 8 open teams being moved up?
IM doesn't need and doesn't want those other 8 teams. We already have 16/17 teams in IM almost all of which are superior to any of the bottom 8 open playoff teams. Let them develop more so they can actually put in a decent performance in a later IM.

Maybe its time to....BRING BACK MAIN

Could a 9 team main div work? Maybe not now, but perhaps in the future?
possibly but not right now, even if you moved up all the playoff teams that would only be ~3 more teams
IM needs 25 or so active teams before main becomes viable

might want more in open before that.

so then move up the bottom 8 teams this year, at least the live ones, then move up top 8 next season and hopefully have enough to make main?

only 3 or 4 of the bottom 8 playoff teams are even still alive
we dont need main right now, the scene isnt big enough, having 3 divisions is already a blessing
s14-s15 were much larger than esea is right now which is why they got main

I think 5/8 are alive, chefs might be dead, and i think
If i'm right, Move ups would be
Egg Salad
Not Around Bears
Westbrook
Chefs?
*Dieextracrispy (stole the yompies roster already though)
*arstotzka (bote 6v6 could use the roster if they wanted to IM)
Dead Teams
Snailed it
Young Hunters
Creative Juices
team name tbd
The baddies
hands off
*Slammin Salmon (still a lot rostered, but top comment is RIP, are they dead?)
*Yompies (im assuming would die if diextracrispy got moved up, since they wouldn't have to deal with hijack rules)
So currently there are 17-18 teams and there would be 20-22 depending on if chefs or salmon are dead during moveups. Move ups would leave 39-41 open teams, although that's only including teams with 1 paid up in open.
Basically, my thoughts are if Salmon are dead and there's only 17 teams, doing the move up doesn't make sense because each IM team should play each other once in a 17 team division. If slammin salmon (or any of the other dead teams) are alive (and no other teams die), they may as well do the move ups since it couldn't be a system of every team plays each other once. To me, keeping 17 teams is the only good argument to not do the move ups.
On the argument of developing better in open than IM, I'd actually disagree with that. They'll either roll low/mid open teams, or get rolled by high IM teams. Scrims are where they'll develop and odds are they'll be scrimming IM teams anyways, may as well play in the division at that point.
**note, the only open playoff team I didn't consider is bshears ponytail since no one is paid up. They do cover the hijack rule though. As a new team they might just want to play open**
edit:

To grow the league would it not be beneficial to grow the number of IM rosters? More move ups-> more living rosters -> bigger IM division? Open continues to get a number of teams (and I can only hope matchmaking boosts that further), so in theory growing IM is what would be needed for there to be a reason for main.

it doesn't make a difference whether you add 4 new bottom of the barrel teams to the division. none of the teams that aren't getting moved up are good enough to even make a dent in mid IM; I think they would be much better off in open
SYOPS is dead / inactive according to the team page.
At this rate, with so many question marks, merging IM and Open would seem the more likely option than moving up 16 Open rosters, since so few of the playoff teams even returning. That would be devastating and hopefully doesn't come to that.
