BracketsI will be streaming PCMR games in my perspective @ www.twitch.tv/setlet
For those of you who missed it Serpents (Nesh, kensi, Shyyou, ShaDowBurn, Unlimited, Dikker) won yesterday's open stage beating #ISISクソコラグランプリ, Damn, Karina!, Comfortably Spanked and dd + 5 abs.
Serpents, Comfortably Spanked, dd + 5 abs and Stevie Wonder's Aim School were invited to play in today's closed stage.

Not quite. Anything after the round of 8 didn't get played in the open tournament because the 4 winners of the round of 8 advance to the invite tournament. The 4 teams that won are Comfortably Spanked, Serpents, Stevie Wonders Aim School and dd + 5 abs.

Razer Arena doesn't have support for tournaments with 4 equal winners?
edit: I apologise for being such an idiot, if it says 1st and 2nd right on the website it means there were 4 equal winners and if it shows game scores right on the website it means that those games weren't played. Lesson learned.

Please change don't watch the second map of these 2 quite random teams...
Let us see LEGO vs Publiclir BibleThump

These qualifiers pretty much sum up the situation of current EU tf2 level... I feel bit ashamed.
it's been just a week since the official prem teams have started playing and we've already spectated to some really messy and random games. Not exactly what you would have expected a few seasons ago (even last one).

The mid-low prem has always been much worse than the best teams in prem. And because they aren't allowed to compete (for obvious reasons), you will see old teams like Suave and Serpents beating the other teams. I have no doubt that NameLess and Perilous could easily win these oldschool teams though.

Serpents were a mid/low prem team even when they were active, they shouldn't be beating prem teams after 2 seasons of not playing

Serpents came 5th place in season 22, behind Lego, then they come back and win agains all these teams. Its not exactly the same as Suave, a team full of people who won prem, coming back.
Also i've recently spectated many games where some situations became fast just a DM fest/things chosen by the fate. That's not exactly something you saw it every. f****n. game. You can't tell me the PCMR vs CS was a match worthy of being even bottom prem. And so was some actions of the many Serpents games (i didn't watch the GF, but surely dd+5abs game has reached the very bottom). I hope i can blame this recent events to the desperate attempts to try finding some alternative ways (aka doing some mess) of beating the nameLess tactic also thanks to the recently added unlocks
With the round that reset because of the 10 min timer, wouldn't it have been a better strat for Serpents to let LEGO cap their second to set the timer back to 10 mins and just hold mid? Not a big determinant and wouldn't have changed much cause Serpents won the mid after the round reset.
Also, if LEGO were smart they would just let the timer round run out anyway. Is it unfair that they'd get off holding last for free?

there's literally no incentive to play unless you are the best team, at which point you can barely fund yourself to LANs without fundraisers. but to be the best you have to put a lot of time and effort into the game, except putting a lot of time and effort into the game is barely worth it in the first place.
if you want to see teams becoming better, there has to be an actual incentive to do the boring stuff in playing the game (organising, practising, team talks etc.). i've done them over and over again and after 7 years of playing this game i came third in prem which granted me an amazing amount of €200 which can fund 1/10 of our lan trips on budget+ (if the money were paid out BEFORE the LAN season, which is unlikely by ETF2L standards). i realise if i win this AMAZING prize of €1000 + win s23+24 + dreamhack, there is going to be a total of like €4000, at which point you can MAYBE even afford to book hotels during your lan trips. now was that worth the amount of time you put into the game to actually become the best? probably not.
if you think that becoming the best in the game is actually worth it, you are delusional. this isn't some pro esport, i play the game because i think it's fun, and although i WANT to become the best, i neither want or can put hours on end into this game because i actually have other stuff do in my life.
now can you idiots PLEASE stfu about the "state of tf" or whatever, I don't play the game for a living and you have no rights to complain about the standard of gameplay or production quality if you don't do anything yourself to try to improve the situation (maybe make a team that can beat the prem teams, except you can't because you're also fucking terrible).

It sure may look like DM fest to you, but i can ensure you its not. Some teams (and mostly us and the other 6 "lower prem" teams) just don't prefer the current slow and stale meta. What ondkaja said is 100% true, we just play the game for fun and try to make every small advantage work into a successful push. That's how you become a better team. There is a lot of time and effort put in from every prem team right now to make the games for spectators entertaining and actually watchable. If you gave me a choice to watch s23 grand finals with full tilt parking bus on gully last forever and any of the week 1 s24 matches i would always pick the second option any time of the day.
Unless the next few updates from valve won't change how the game plays completely, you will see this slow and boring playstyle from top teams and fast and scrappy playstyle from low teams. Also if you are trying to say that low prem from last 2 seasons is worse than the seasons before then you are very wrong. It was very common for worse teams to just get 5-0'd in 15 minutes by epsi or broder, now you can see very close games even between 1st and last in prem.
Just my 2 cents.
