I started playing tf2 originally on the xbox. I achieved the gray matter achievement and thought i was pretty good (lol). i stopped playing tf2 for awhile as i was playing gears of war competitively. In 2010, i came back to tf2 and played on the free frag nation 2fort servers for a bit, then joined a random mge server and i was complete dog shit and found out about tf2lobby and played under the alias JoshY lol. Then i played a bunch of lobbies and met dope wolf i think,he picked me up for a season of ugc platinum 6s with him. I had no mic at the time so my team DTW all pitched in and got me a 10$ mic off of amazon and used that for like 2 years. After that i played my first match of esea ever where i had my name as snacksondeck (we got rolled really badly) after that i realized how bad i was and went back to playing lobbies again for quite a bit and tried to get on multiple esea teams but have had no luck until recently.
Sorry for bad formatting and stuff. I suck at english aswell as tf2.

I was a competitive 1.6 player, and they added ads into the game on random walls and stuff, I saw the Orange Box being advertised and the community I was a part of was playing it. I heard there was a sniper that had a charge mechanic in it, among other class gimmicks, and it sounded really interesting, so I bought it. Pretty much was a pubstar on LUElinks christian gaming experience, the lost continents, and team fortress 2 fort (the community). We had a huge enough community on LUElinks where we decided to start doing in-house PUGs and we had a lot of really good players that played in there regularly (DLman, jaeger, yz50, stultus, tri, denial, caspian, and many more). Some of us in the PUG group decided to form teams and I was basically forced into the medic position when I thought I was going to be playing soldier or scout. On my first team, I basically died to a random crit rocket (you couldn't disable crits) right out of dustbowl spawn doors, and I got cut right after that first scrim lmao.
I joined another LUElinks team and we played in the first few seasons of CEVO (the first incarnation, not the revived one that everyone knows now), I basically got to play sniper as my main class and scout secondary. We weren't really good, but we did play against a lot of good teams that would just rotate classes since we were relatively unknown. This was during high school, and I was a delinquent and basically just grinded TF2 every day while skipping classes, which is probably why I was at my prime and had a lot of people accuse me of cheating during this time. At the same time w1rex was basically cheating and aliasing as "Foxie", which is why everyone ended up thinking that I was him (he confirmed that he was trying to frame me from his leaving thread, where he apologized to me on gotfrag, but a lot of people still think I'm w1rex to this day). I made a lot of frag movies during this time, but stopped after I got a death threat for making them (lol).
I got picked up by mainline gaming in IM that had soup, kaidus, and defy. This was my first ESEA team, and it basically disbanded right after our first match lmao. Right after that, I got picked up by blight gaming to backup for fanom and arizona, where I clearly remember being very confused since I was basically an idiot dm scout, since all I did was play PUGs and play sniper 99% of the time, and I still remember getting yelled at for not capping points. At the same time, I was playing in #tf2gather and was basically being forced to learn scout since I got yelled at for running sniper to granary mid, it was so weird to me because I normally ran full time sniper everywhere else.
During ESEA seasons 12-16, I basically stopped playing TF2 seriously to focus on finishing college. My school basically had insane workloads (I had to write a 40 page thesis in my sophmore year lol), and so I couldn't play both TF2 and pass my classes at the same time, so I decided to ease up on TF2. This caused me to pub/pug a lot more, and while pubbing someone named BattleBull was like, "Hey! You're pretty good! I hope you don't mind that I added you to my highlander roster haha!" I honestly had no idea what he was talking about, and only realized what he meant when I ended up with a UGC medal in my inventory. Tangerine was a plat team and contacted me about playing sniper for them in highlander, and I basically got shuffled around when vhalin took me to backup for jake on the syndicate. I didn't actually realize at the time, but he did this as a powerplay to kill Tangerine, who was their main competition, and by losing me as their starter, they ended up disbanding. I went with vhalin, just because I actually knew him for an incredibly long time, and I guess I hit it off with stabby, because he just invited me to all of his latest highlander teams, which was great because highlander wasn't as much of a timesink as 6s with 1-2 scrims a week and a match 1 day a week.
I streamed a load of TF2 and went to two GXL events and got to meet so many people I've known online for years. I'm still friends and keep in contact with a lot of TF2 people even though I don't really play TF2 anymore. I've moved on in terms of competitive play, but I still have a special place in my heart for TF2, and the community is something I will never forget. I sometimes regret not pushing myself harder to get into invite, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't feel the same getting in now compared to when a lot more of my friends were competing at the top level. I definitely don't regret focusing on school over pursuing playing in invite, and I don't regret all the time I put into TF2. I love you guys, and I'm happy to have been a part of this wonderful community~ :3c

Been playing since 2012. Originally I was just a pocket medic to my best friend IRL in a polish dustbowl server, and we even did a highlander season like that, but I got bored of medic pretty quickly (also I absolutely suck at calling).
Unfortunately at the time I was a 40 fps gamer that couldn't really aim anything and when I watched some pyro videos and was able to replicate some of that shit pretty quickly I was hooked. You can't deny that when you're new to the whole first person shooter thing, pyro is flashy. It looks cool. So I set out to become the best pyro ever (xd)
Obviously I didn't achieve that. But it was fun and I met some cool people along the way. Even played some sixes recently, I was getting kinda decent on scout but I don't have the same drive to become good now as I did 3 years ago. So I'm mostly watching from the sidelines and throwing some shitposts now. Wouldn't call it quitting - the community is great and it's great to be a (no matter how small) part of it.

I was in 8th grade and friends from my soccer team were talking about MvM in the hallway before practice. I was really into Call of Duty at the time, and they made MvM out to be "nazi zombies but robots." I was instantly attracted and went home that day to download Steam and eventually TF2. A few days go by and we added each other on Steam and spent hours pubbing and talking via Skype. I later found out that my one friend subbed scout on Just Kidding (jk!) in iron and my other friend mained spy in silver. I would go over to my friend's house to watch him scrim, and even play a life or two while he was on the mic. I recognized how much fun it was, and from that point on I never looked back. I put up an LFT thread on the UGC forums, essentially saying I would be willing to play any class. Two hours later I was added by a guy named Puff (formerly TPE) and was tried out in a lakeside pub where I trickstabbed him. ^_^ I got the spot and honestly got pretty good at spy until I quit it in silver. At that point I was feeling done with TF2 until Khunti "universeruler" Jaggesh messaged me on steam saying "yo catgroove's team needs a medic for his ESEA open team. spies have really good movement so I think it would be perfect for you." I tried out, got the spot, and ended my first season of open 9-7. Catgroove's team died so I decided I would make my own team with friends the next season. We had a set roster until big papa han quit to pursue highlander sniper. We tried out a few people that were looking for a team but none of them were the perfect fit. Everybody was a bit frustrated, so fight asked CheesyMacgyver to mentor us and ring pocket for us.We all loved playing with him, so out of desperation we asked him if he would play with us. He said sure and honestly I learned more from him in one season than I have in the past three. We got 5th place that season, and to be quite honest that season gave me the drive that I have today to become a great TF2 player. I played scout the next season and somehow managed to get 2nd place. (WITH ME ON SCOUT WTF) At the end of that season I started hanging out with some of the -bird noises- players and eventually met Yimi who then asked me to play on his team. It was a ton of fun, and will never forget the good and the bad moments on that team. Currently, I am playing in IM again with broKing, pelt, froot, skeez, and knuckles. I am learning more and more each day from them and hope to be in invite next season.

-Started playing tf2 with some people I used to play ARMA 2 with.
-Got interested in highlander from watching stabby stabby
-Looked for a UGC highlander team as medic, found one called "Grey Menn Gaming," met Alex/Catgroove who was backing up spy for the team, we're still very good friends.
-Left that team because we were terrible, and I ended up playing on Reading Rainbow in s11 iron with Willy and some other really cool people
-Made "no fetus can beat us" in s14 6s steel with Catgroove, Smashy, Lrdwhyt, MyNamesDie, and Deb. Universeruler123 aka Uni aka Khunti Jaggesh aka yung Tunak Tunak mentored us and we went undefeated until the second round of playoffs where Uni had to sub in roamer for MyNamesDie.
-Got picked up on pocket in s16 open with Athermal, Taylor, Xavirav, TallHorse, and Arc. I was terrible, but I learned. We made playoffs but Athermal refused to play them, so we forfeited.
-Remade "no fetus can beat us" with Catgroove, Smashy, MyNamesDie, Chippy, and Durush, but we got rolled in s17 open and died. Combined teams with Athermal's team at the time, but we died again.
-Met Morin through that mumble, and we put together "morin than meets the eye" in s18. We picked up Smashy, Tron, Change, and Rolling. First decent season of open, 11-5 and 0-1.
-Continued the Morin legacy into s19, but Change and Rolling left so we picked up Market and Shiki in their place. I played roamer this season instead of pocket.
-2wycked died, didn't really want to play but I ended up making a last minute team for s20 IM with Crispy, Flatline, Couch, Smashy, Throne, and later ZZ. Left the team because of depression and real life stuff.
-S21 I decided I wanted to play demo pretty late into the offseason and ended up making another last minute IM team with KevinIsPwn, Flatline, Spades, Phone, and Logy. We died midway through the season and I played the second half of the season for Tron's team in open when Throne disappeared.
-S22 offseason and for a bit of the regular season I played for BLANC eSports, but I left because I wasn't enjoying tf2 anymore whatsoever and it was a major chore to get myself to play. I played for them until they were able to find a replacement that actually wanted to play.
Not sure if I'll play tf2 again. Currently enjoying Overwatch a lot, but I'm also enjoying not having much of a regimented schedule. I'm traveling a lot this month and want to plan a backpacking trip in europe sometime next year. tf2 was great when I was in high school and needed an escape from my depression, but now I think I have better things to focus on.

2007: me, enigma, fanom, makaveli, solidsnake started playing after NS died. This was the original TF2 xensity, we got into the competitive scene right after the first CEVO tournament, went CEVO P the following season.
2008: quit xensity to form a team with justin, nightmare, ruwin, bman, got picked up by x6. Did nothing but finish 2nd in CEVO P
2009-2010: quit x6 and joined sway with destro, hero, amr, reen, and casey, later got picked up by Evil Geniuses with these guys. ESEA picked up TF2 around this time, went straight to invite. Nothing but 2nd place finishes again. Cut amrit and got cyzer on scout. Everyone started quitting or not wanting to play as much so we picked up phelon, reptile, syckness, and dummy. rage quit and made an open team with randoms, didn't even make playoffs lol. Quit after that season and made an IM team with phelon, paladin, and others. Had a good first half of the season then started losing because everyone would argue. I quit midseason and joined an open team with Basik. Basik and I quit the team after that season.
2011: Basik and I went to invite to play for apoplexy industries, went 1-15 all season, vowed never to play this game competitively again.
2012 - now: sometimes i pub or play pugs, but rarely, I don't find the game to be as exciting or fun anymore. I still love this community regardless of how much I act like an asshole, because I've met a lot of great people that I still talk to daily.
Evil Geniuses with destro, casey, reen, amrit, and hero was my favorite team to play with because we were all good buds. amrit was holding us back and we really wanted to win so what do we do? we go and cut one of our best buds and picked up a bunch of try hards and it turned into a toxic environment. in hindsight, we should've just worked with amrit more on improving. Pro tip: If you're on a team where everyone is best friends, don't fucking cut anybody regardless of how many 2nd place finishes you get.
