I have seen a lot of bad England teams over the years. I've seen Carlton Palmer wearing an England shirt. This is amongst the worst. Bad beyond belief.

they scored a penalty and almost immediately conceded a goal
Then I went to eat dinner and TADA Iceland score another. (Thanks Joe Hart Beaten at the near post yet again...)
edit: Even when I don't expect anything from England's team they still manage to disappoint me.
Anyway, well played Iceland :)

This is more or less the same thing that happens with england in an international tourney. First they're amazing in friendlies and qualifiers and fuck up when the actual tournament happens.

I didn't see that performance coming, in the other 3 games we may have lacked cutting edge but at least we played somewhat decent. That was the worst display I have ever seen, to say Iceland looked comfortable is an exaggeration - They play like Leicester - Undedog mentality, good at set plays and actually push players forward in the midfield, their 2nd goal had more quality in it than I have seen from England - One touch, two touch in our final third. Well played to Iceland, I hope you go on and beat France, you look a decent side.
England though - It wasn't that we were peppering the goal and camped in Iceland's half, It was actually woeful, and I know woeful I watched West Ham play for years, but they couldn't pass a ball. Nobody wanted the ball either, Hodgson puts on Wilshere, puts him as a deep playmaker, Rooney seemed to be playing the same role - but they both gave the ball away for fun, then neither of them wanted the ball when our wide men had it - No movement ahead of them, everyone just went into their shells. The England players reaction to going behind was that of a team devoid of leaders - Rooney is meant to be our captain and he's hiding away, doesn't want the ball.
First thing we need with England whoever the manager is - Get a new captain, someone with guts. I don't care if he isn't the best player in the world, but put a leader in that side. It was so bad I would have rather seen us have Andy Carroll on the pitch and knock long balls up to him, that is how dreadful we were.
My England rant is over - Have to say it's been an amazing tournament so far - Shame I just witnessed the worst England performance I have ever seen.

Hodgson should be lynched.
Hodgson should be lynched.
AdebisiHodgson should be lynched.
You are blaming the wrong person.
England in this tournament had the same problem as France in 2010 World Cup
They had the players but didn't have the team.
Also they lacked a "tough" striker

Hodgson was a big problem though. Throughout the euros some of his decisions with the team have been really questionable.
Vardy and Rashford should have started more. Even as a Manchester United fan I'm fine with saying Rooney should not of even gone to the euros. The guy is past it now.

Yeah I accept with that his decisions were questionable but there was also the problem with England's defence...they need more defenders and more coordination but Hodgson decided to take 5 striker and in my opinion wasted poor Rashford's time :( Their midfield weren't very creative and even when they were the strikers fail to capitalize on it.
Funny enough, you are are the 1st man u fan to admit that Rooney is not what he used to, other man u fan either blame man u's coach or make fun of me cause I support chelsea

I aren't, he played Rooney in midfield, Sturridge on the wing and instructed Kane to take set pieces.
All very stupid decisions. The manager forges the team. Sturridge is far and away our most talented player and should have been up front.
The players of course take blame, but Hodgson is ultimately responsible.

Rooney lacks the pace to be a striker anymore, playing him in midfield is the best choice as he is one of England's most skillful players who usually (not against Iceland) doesn't give the ball away very much. Besides, Vardy and Kane were 2 of the most in form strikers in the Premier League last season, so it makes sense he would want them up top, even though Kane was poor at this tournament

I think playing him in midfield fundamentally misunderstands what the midfield is there to do.
Then again, England has often been guilty of that. It's like when Liverpool tried to convert Gerrard into a CM playmaker.
