Portugal did quite well last night, probably their best game so far tbh. Of course it'd have been nicer if they didn't beef a couple chances and actually put the game away before penalties, but at the same time it's pretty surprising how comfortable they are taking the game into those stressful moments, while previous iterations of this team have been almost the entire opposite.

WP to Poland, you could easily have beaten us if Milik had a better game.

The German commentator bitching for ages about how the penalty was supposedly executed improperly is hilarious.

He did kind of a stutter-step. I am not really up on the exact rules in soccer about penalty kicks. I know in Hockey, you cannot come to a complete stop at any moment once you have the puck on a penalty shot.

We'll he did not stop completely, in my eyes that was fine. Boateng looked like he tried not to push the guy in front down with his arms, didn't really work out that well.

The commentators are giving the referee a hard time but this has been a sloppy type of match from both teams. Lots of players getting stupid fouls and he is calling everything at this point. Seems like a really difficult match to officiate but maybe its just me but he has kept control pretty well and not made any terrible bad calls at all.

Ugh, penalty shootouts are my least favourite part of the game, but at the same time, I can't think of a better way to solve these kinds of situations.
