do you guys think valve will ever remove the restrictions on matchmaking, such as viewmodels and graphical commands? Also, casual mode is just a stupid concept. no one was asking for it, what is the point
if they got rid of the graphical restrictions and shit, a lot more players would play mm / casual
I have no idea why valve even thought this was a good idea to bug down their players with dumb restrictions and enforced settings, this won't even out anyone. Plus there is no real "advantage" for people who "customize" their game since it's open for anyone to do it, if they find certain elements unappealing or useless.
I would definitely play mm more if i could have a smaller viewmodel because without min mode which i dont like much the viewmodels take up like a fourth of your screen and also my frame rate doesn't agree with dx9 much and i just don't like how it looks too
edit: i think that if they are going to use dx9 for everyone they need to continue to optimize the game like they are now but still have dx8 available until then, they also need to give us some viewmodel editing ability because it is allowed in csgo somewhat, and so is net_graph

I just want to play a casual valve pub once in a while without some retarded restrictions or waiting times.
I'm glad they added matchmaking and all but everything I liked about the old pubs is pretty much gone now.
Sitting in a queue to play a 12v12 placebo comp game with pubbers on like koth_viaduct with 60 fps is a fucking garbage experience all around.

If I could have my viewmodel and fps configs in matchmaking I would play it. As it is right now it's just unplayable. I don't think the tf2 team actually realises how hard it is to play with viewmodels if you're used to playing without. I do like the casual mode though. It gives me a reason to try in pubs :)
Casual would be smooth if they fixed the amount of time it took to find a game. I would rather wait 2 minutes to find a decent pub than to wait 0 minutes to find a shitty pub.
they're doing it because of twitch streamers and super mlg competitive esports
it's a huge mistake

valve please allow us to customize our viewmodels and stuff
and for streams and matches, dont worry the cool camera dudes will use amazing graphics
thank you
you have always allowed us to customize stuff since 2007
why not now

1) casual is good cos differentiate valve pubs from community pubs and put in contact pub players with comp players
2) casual doens't force some graphical configs

This whole casual matchmaking thing is retarded and I don't know how Valve interpreted the general opinion of the wider PC gaming community on server browsers, being "Games that release without server browsers in 2016 are the antichrist and shall be executed as such" (see: Doom 2016 multiplayer, Star Wars Battlefront 2015), as "Retroactively remove server browsers from games with successful server browsers". Like what how did you even think this was a good idea. Also having to queue up to play a pub and having to wait after playing one game is stupid. I'll dearly miss jumping into a vanilla Valve pub on process or something and just DMing for 45 minutes.
Matchmaking is pretty dumb with all the restrictions. They didn't optimize the game enough to play at competitive framerates with all the locked cvars and didn't balance most of the problem weapons (Danger Shield etc). Would've been nice to see the changes of product implemented into regular viaduct because in my experience from the beta, KOTH was pretty fun. But yeah, clamping down on customisation seems pretty dumb considering the average pubber who's been playing for a year probably knows about custom HUDs and even a pony server regular knows about reskins and stuff. Valve don't seem to trust their audience in the slightest but even pubbers seem to understand the basics of mods. Why not just add all the common cvars to the advanced options menu? Pubbers get new commands to optimise performance without configs, comp players get to play the game with max viability and framerate.
TL;DR: Casual matchmaking is counter-intuitive and awful in Oceania where there are like 5 decent community servers and the rest have ads and stupid plugins. Matchmaking has a way to go but with a change of mindset from Valve it could be really cool. They should look at competitive Quake and other arena shooters too see how they should lock the game down, rather than CS:GO.

Unrelated: You guys should append " | teamfortress.tv" to your name. I got like 5 people to visit the site while playing competitive matches
FOV 54 is retarded. The fuckin stickybomb launcher covers the entire sceen when reloading. I'm pretty sure FOV 72 was already hated by the large majority of players playing in the beta, so they just HAD to lower it more to 54....
