Current Favorite: Clown Shoes -- Space Cake
Honorable Mention: Two Hearted Ale by Bells. I live by them so i'm burnt out, but it's a fantastic beer.
Hopslam is 100 times better though.

All time favorite is definitely Founder's Breakfast Stout though sadly it's a fall beer so I can't get my fix now. When I want hops I go for Ballast Point's Grapefruit Sculpin IPA. If I'm looking to get drunk, I can rely on Unibroue's La Fin Du Monde tripel. Like a good beer nerd I have a favorite local brewer, Rohrbach who make a good Scotch ale and a beer named after the local minor league baseball team, Red Wing Red Ale. There's a few more like the Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald porter, Lindemann's Framboise (raspberry) lambic (when I want to drink beer without drinking beer), and Sam Adam's Boston Lager, but those I go for much less often.
Adding:
Brother Thelonious (North Coast Brewing)
Vanderghinste Oud Bruin (Brouwerij Bockor)
Seconded to: Bell's Two Hearted, Dogfish 90min, Prior 8 (better on tap), Arrogant Bastard, La Fin de Monde (and Maudite, from the same brewery), Golden Draak.
3 Floyds is nice, but screw the prices for their beer. Good, but not that good. Bells would be the Midwest brewery to try in my book. The Bells Hell Hath No Fury clinched them for me after Two Hearted. Very different beer, but still powerful good.

Well in my place people mostly drink vodka (or something with equal alcohol %) to get drunk. It takes a couple of shots as opposed to several bottles of beer.

I meant on average, indicating that getting drunk on it doesn't make much sense.
Where do I get this though

American beer?
Everyone, and I mean everyone, knows that Budweiser, Coors, Miller, and any variations thereof are garbage.
We've got plenty of fuckin' delicious craft brews around man.

re: domestic american beers
I only drink inexpensive pilsners and lagers and wheat beers cuz I'm a plebeian who can't stand the bitterness of hops. Lionshead and Yuengling are good, the former you can get a 6-pack of 16-oz cans for $5.75 in my neighborhood.

Tegernseer Hell - just so well made, crisp, clean but characterful.

As poor art school students, me and my friends always drink the possibly cheapest beer as possible.
Last time we bought a beer that was 30 cents = l.

Organic Chocolate Stout (Samuel Smith)
Domaine DuPage (Two Brothers)
Delerium Nocturnum (Delerium)
Apricot Weizen (Pyramid)
Hibiscus Gose (Boulevard Brewing)
Eliot Ness (Great Lakes Brewing)
Coffee Bender (Surly Brewing)
Furious (Surly Brewing)
Fistmas (Revolution Brewing)
Chocolate Shake (Boulder Brewing)
I have the, unpopular in this era of craft beer hipsters, opinion that beer should taste of more than hops. Though if you're one of those people who thinks that drinking IPAs makes you cool and unique, try "Hazed and Infused" from Boulder Brewing, it is... mildly hoppy.
Oh, and when I get cheap beer to get drunk on, I get Tecate, because it's the tastiest I can get for 8.99 a 12 pack.
