Whats the easiest most straight forward way to create a LAN tf2 server on windows?
Is steamcmd the only way to launch a decent server? and will the server have any problem if i have the game launched in the same machine?
Best regards

If your CPU is good enough, the server and client should be able to run on different cores. It's gonna run at a high percentage a lot of the time, though.
There's no "easy" (by this I mean not tedious) way of installing a comp. tf2 server.
You're better off following the wiki guide, then downloading configs for whichever gamemode/league.
The maps are probably in your client tf folder already, so you can just copy them.
You could go the extra mile and install TFTrue+MetaMod+SourceMod+SOAPDM+MGEMod which are mostly drag-and-drop installs.

steamcmd is the only way to download app 232250 which is the tf2 dedicated server. you literally can't install it with the regular steam client.
srcds is single threaded, so as long as you put it on a separate core from TF2 you shouldn't have any trouble at all perf-wise.
seriously though just follow the wiki link #2 showed. copy any custom maps you want from your tf2 install to the server's maps folder, and copy any league configs to the cfg folder. then just exec them when the server is running.

thanks
im following the wiki guide but im stuck on the part "Create a file to run the server" where i have to make a shortcut to srcds.exe
theres no "srcds.exe" in my specified location for tf2 files (F:\steamCMD\tf2\tf)
edit: nvm tried to update again and now its there
think im all set now! just need to install a few plugins :)
