I agree with the too bright sentiment.
And also there is no way for me to get to this quickly

i thought you said there was going to be a dave__ac face
where is the dave__ac face
other than that i'd personally like the logo to be a bit larger, that'd be cool

I think it looks great. It did seem a bit bright at first but after browsing for ~10 minutes I got used to it. With that said maybe switch the white and light gray around and see how it looks? http://i.imgur.com/xJpmwg8.png
The major upside of the layout IMO is the top bar (YouTube videos, match VODs). Seems like it will be simpler to update with casts and information, while looking more professional than the big graphics that it replaced.

WithADanceNumberOf course I am.
Also, the expand button doesn't work on streams currently.
works for me...try clearing your cache.
the new expand looks like this: http://puu.sh/1Upqx
although i'm not sure if i should be seeing something in that dark box at the bottom

"All Threads" is missing from the Actions menu when reading a thread.

I'd also like to mention that the site looks great from my phone.

Oh yeah middle clicking on links sends you to the page in a new tab and on the tab you are currently browsing. Not sure how many people do this, if it's not many I'll be able to get over it.

Yep, just noticed that. I use middle-clicking a lot and it's annoying.
Also you can +/-frag yourself

While you're updating the front page enigma, you could put sigma's guide to competitive tf2 up there. Considering how many newer players are linked to the main page through our casts, this would probably help retain first-time viewers.

I like it. Seems fresh and happy and stuff.
Maybe a bit darker could be noice because its really a strain on the eyes.

This is a huge improvement over the previous design, and it's nice to see the site moving in a positive direction.
That said, there is still room for additional enhancements. For one, as others said, the colours are a bit too bright and darkening the shades of grey would make the site a lot easier on the eyes.
More importantly, all the columns and boxes give the site too much of a tabular and cluttered look. The bar on the left takes up a fifth of the usable screen real estate and is fairly unnecessary. Having the Latest Articles and Upcoming Events data on every page is a bit redundant, seeing as they are relatively static; instead, these could be incorporated into the front page of the site. As for the Forum Activity box, which is probably used more often, it can be moved to the right, perhaps above or below the server list. It's a relatively minor fix, but will result in a much cleaner design.

add toggle to reduce left navbar to like 15 px wide or something
forum activity window moves to right side in place of community news instead of mid left when navbar is "closed"
everyone happy

I really like this new design. I was shocked initially, and that's where I think the "too bright" comments stem from, as the previous gray was a bit softer.
An option to "turn off the lights" sounds like a great idea and compromise.
I think it would be cool to have another color scheme with colors from the TF2 palette. I've done something similar before, and Drab, Rustic and Conagher were pretty good for the bigger parts of the site. Debonair and Overalls for accents perhaps. Just an idea.

Only suggestion: make the top bar fixed?

noob greasemonkey script at your service (your results may vary)
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1811521/tf.tv_left_bar_toggle.user.js
you have to click the arrow to collapse every time because i didn't figure out how to store the state between page loads
and I don't know whether this will break some style stuff, only tried it on forum pages really
todo:
- move stuff to the right bar instead of hiding it (difficult because the elements don't have unique ids or classes)
- disable on front page because it's not robust for this done
- change more widths when on board/topic view pages

I agree that the site is deffo too bright and the top menu is too small imo, like it has the same issue as the VanillaTF2 site has. Menu is just too small, should try to fiddle around with the menu to make it somewhat bigger and much more noticeable.

Regardless of the colors, having the main page showcase the latest VoDs uploaded to YouTube is a huge improvement, especially when you're frontpaged on Twitch and sending them to this site for more.
Also excited about the lurking "Guide" link at the top :)

I like the new design a lot, but I've always been a big fan of having the option to "turn off the lights" and make everything much darker.
