Vulcansniper servers help a lot.

if you want to be good at HL sniper yeah, otherwise not that much. Sniper v Sniper isn't an important matchup in 6s compared to basically any other sort of Sniper v Matchup

Well yeah, but raw aim really isn't as important as getting used to sniper v sniper. if you had300 hours of sniping 6s classes (DM) instead of 300 hours of Sniper v Sniper you'd be a lot more effective in 6s matches since you'd be more used to hitting the targets that are actually important. I think you're more likely to win a push by being able to drop a scout or demo than if you can out play the other sniper

not to say svs is useless, its just not as efficient as other training methods. Anyone who'd want to be a top level sniper would want to master svs as well

just play a lot of sniper in pubs or whatever
sniper v sniper servers aren't really effective for actual sniper gameplay

FunsNakadaI'd imagine your sniper aim improves as your aim in general improves. So MGE scout?Nah, different kind of aim. Just play lots of sniper: pubs, lobbies, pugs etc.

do not do this everyone will hate you

Pubs help, but there's a certain point where you get good enough so that pubs don't really help that much anymore, most pubbers have pretty awful movement so you kind of get used to how they move. I'd say HL lobbies can be very helpful too since hopefully people have marginally better movement in there, but I don't play very many lobbies. If you can try and find a decent pub to snipe on, like skial upward or skial harvest.

I've never played on a sniper server in my life so I couldn't tell you whether they are helpful or not, I'd imagine it's just a bunch of second scoping.

aldertr_newbots wouldn't help

tr_newbots has helped me a lot, though at the cost of a bit of sanity since trying to hit the scout going at mach 3 can be pretty hard. In terms of the best warmup these days I'd say either this and the one DM server you can snipe on helps, but I don't think I recommend the DM server in good conscience since I'm pretty sure every hates it when there's a sniper in DM, including my own team.

Hello fellow Singaporean.

If you're looking at all the advice these people are giving you, I should advise you that several resources listed by them are not available because you were born in the wrong country.

- Lobbies are not a thing in South East Asia; you have a negligible chance of finding a center with less than 150 ping, much less a stadium.
- There are no DM servers in Asia that I know of, and I suspect that because I don't know of them, the ones that actually exist are likely empty.
- HL PUGs are such a rarity that I haven't seen one happen in at least a month.

Consequences of having a small player base. However, what I can do is invite you to these two groups:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/asiafortresspickupgames
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/shanapugs

These are for 6s PUGs in SEA, and will alert you whenever one is getting started. Should be a good place to get decent practice against players that have a brain and can dodge.

Granted, if you perma sniper in a PUG I am playing I will kick you, so please do practice sniper only when the situation calls for it.

From UGC HL S13 to S15 my practice for sniper looked mostly like this.

5 to 10 minutes of mouse control practice using either of these sites.
http://www.aimbooster.com/
http://aim400kg.com/ea/

it helps in getting you warmed up and help to efficently hold/move your mouse

I would then play on tr_aim_training (only a couple times a week)
I would go to this room http://gamebanana.com/maps/104304
And stand on the blue dot furthest from the wall. I would put my crosshair on the red square and flick to each blue, green, white and then red square from that center red square (going much further than this is kinda pointless cause your crosshair should be a lot closer to your target than that otherwise you're doing something really wrong.) I would do each square until I hit them 5x in a row.

Ex. Flicking from the red center square to the white square immediately to the right. hit, miss, hit, hit, miss, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit move on to the next square (I would work counter clockwise but that doesn't matter much)

In s15 this usually took me about 20minutes to do (I only did this practice like twice a week cause it's boring as fuck, highly recommend a good music playlist and turning in game sound off)

I would then pub on my favorite servers Skial Badwater US or Skial Badwater LA if those were full I would play Skial Upward TX. For however long I wanted to. (Usually about an hour or 2)

Occasionally I would play SvS servers they help a little bit in dealing with other snipers, and in warmup as well but it's probably the least efficient way of getting ready for 6s.

tr_walkway was alright if you wanted to practice tracking or aiming without scoping in.

And then of course scrims/matches. Usually I played in 4 to 6 scrims a week.

As for the "fastest" probably depends on your skill level but just do whatever you enjoy and have fun doing at least that way time doesn't really matter.

use this script for sniper and scout, and you'll probs get good hitreg.

// "Soft" settings (hitreg oriented)
//alias net_soft "cl_interp 0.05 ; cl_interp_ratio 2" // for updaterate 66
//alias net_soft "cl_interp 0.055; cl_interp_ratio 2" // for updaterate 40
// This is the safest "comp" setting. If you're experiencing trouble, use this. If you still have trouble, go back to defaults.
// Also, use this on things that "can not" miss or are especially susceptible to "shitreg" for you, meaning sniper rifles and (for me) scout weapons.

Once you get good, you'll have your own way of warming up/improving. You should really try to find what works for you. For me, I would warm up on sniper vs sniper servers (when they used to have good players), but I would practice in skial badwater (literally exclusively). I found that every time I played svs servers, it'd be really easy to tell when my aim was warmed up, even if it weren't "practical." When I was warmed up in that, I would consequently be warmed up for 6s/hl sniping. When I played in skial badwater, I would pretty easily tell how I was doing, as weird as it sounds, by the amount of points I was getting, because I played on the same exact server each time. When I was pretty bad at sniper, I barely exceeded the other top 2 points that the players had. When I practiced and used to be better at sniper (in terms of just raw aim from consistently practicing) a couple years ago, I would at least double the 2nd person's points every single time. Now, I can tell how I'm sort of standing in terms of just pure aim whenever I play those pubs, and I noticed that for the few times I tried to consistantly play in those a bit ago, the better I'd do in those pubs, the better my aim was in 6s/hl.

tldr: What I'm trying to say is it's sometimes good to play and practice something consistantly, whether it be a certain pub server, svs servers, hl lobbies, etc., and see how you do each time. It's literally all preference, though, and you should find what works for you yourself. it's usually best to do what you have the most fun doing, or at least have fun doing in general.
