We decided to go with the most recent version of snakewater that chojje has created.

FACEIT wanted to do EU but I couldn't find a reliable tournament organizer for that region who had time. FeelsBadMan.

Isn't this announcement really late? I mean I'm not able to attend anyway, but it's a really short window to plan for for players and fans.

Nevertheless I'm sure it's gonna be awesome! It's just a shame that it starts at 4am/1am CET so I can't hype live :(

Yeah, we did the best we could with what we had. FACEIT has a deadline for launching their platform but there's a ton of other things going on including the holidays and ESEA's $19k prize pool playoffs. It was difficult to work our tournament in and we announced as soon as we could.

I love that there are other tournaments happening, don't get me wrong, but seems kind of silly to run a single elim. tournament where the whole first round is going to be mid open teams playing invite teams and high IM teams because of seeding.

I'm sure that's because its one of the first tournaments but something to consider for the future if we want a lot of teams involved, or consider making separate tournaments for different tiers in the future with lowered prize pots or something.

Will be looking forward to spectating :)

Yeah exactly, it's single elim because that's the only choice available.

That said, it's worth noting that if more than 32 teams sign up, the first round will be the lowest seeded teams against the lowest seeded teams because the higher seeded teams will get a by.

If there's 32 teams signed up, you still have a fairly low chance of going up against an invite team because 6 invite teams out of 32 total teams means that invite teams only comprise 19% of the bracket.

I'm clearly very optimistic about this :D

I gotta be honest - I might be biased because I'm an organiser, but from everything I've seen so far, not only is FaceIT a good platform, but it has a wonderful team behind it full of energetic guys with good senses of humor that actually want to make this what it can be.

This first tournament is not going to be perfect, but it's going to be the best it can be, and with the support and feedback of the community, I truly think it's only going to get better.
