Hands up for LANchester 2017 \_(ツ)_/
I'm at Manchester Uni this year and I've always wanted to host a public LAN, so here it is. When I say early workings, this is currently little more than an idea. I don't want to commit too much if no one's gonna give a fuck but I'm in contact with a potential venue at the moment that hopefully won't be too expensive.
This might not be a TF2 exclusive event, but it will be primarily. CS:GO, LoL/Dota and Rocket League are planned to be there but we'll see how it goes.
If you're interested in the idea of coming, let me know, but also if you're not it'd be good to know what kinda prices you would consider good value or too expensive for a multiday event. I'm going to run it non-profit but a vague idea of what would price put people off would be valuable info when looking at costs.

Not in the uni itself but a building owned by the SU.

Won't be at the uni so hotels. I don't know whether people are expected to organise there own accommodation at lans or the hosts block book rooms, I'll look into it.

Looking at Easter break 2017. Don't know exact dates yet as like I said venue is unconfirmed.
The uni itself is pretty good depending on what you're doing, but the weather not so much :D What is your degree?

Fair enough if that's what you're into. Only rained twice today tbf ;) Join the eSports soc if you end up coming here, they run the biggest uni gaming festival in the UK and I've heard it's lit.

try and get some quotes from the venue and price it up, then people can get a better idea of if they can go

At the moment I'm looking at running it in April during my easter break. If either it doesn't happen or it goes really well then I'll look to do it again in the summer :)

Normally insomnia is late august and I would aim for July anyway. I guess lots people (including myself) have exams etc. at the beginning of summer anyway.

Don't worry, this is definietly not dead. I'm still in contact with the venue but there was some issues with the office on their end. Should be able to get quotes soon. If the current favourite venue falls through I've got a few other possibilies I will contact.
