Since I'm the only pocket still playing from the quickfix lan I'm gonna educate you retards on the quickfix. Even with the quickfix "nerfs" it is still by far the best medigun. You have the ability to save your medic from just about any situation.
Example 1
You're losing mid so your soldier and medic bail you can literally double jump you're medic from choke to safety without any risk of dying. That's part of the reason why it was so stalematey.
Example 2
Holding second and the enemy roamer bombs your medic so as pocket you just jump away and you're medic is safe while your scouts kill the roamer. If your medic actually gets forced you actually fucked up so bad you deserve to lose.
Tri was the only player who wanted it to stay banned because he remembers. It's gonna be the worst shit you've ever played with.
Also while I have you're attention.

MR_SLINStarkiewhy would you ban unlocks a week before a LAN
I'm not the tournament admin for the LAN, these are just our proposed changes after talking with TF2 league admins and high level players from around the world. I believe Samiface is the tournament admin for Rewind LAN.
what a fucking cop-out, you're now forcing the decision upon Samiface to make the tough call between going against the consensus of the whitelist meeting and not changing the meta a week before the LAN.

bearodactylWhat's the matter with discussing it on the forums so that people who weren't there have a say in things? Did you not set out to 'include the entire community'?
The community was included didn't you see?

i would have liked to see more voice ppl reading stuff out in chat, not just saying "we shouldn't unban weapons because it doesn't add anything" and "we shouldn't ban weapons because it doesn't change much" over and over again

Not what I meant, the chat's input wasn't even responded to and nobody made any attempt to moderate the chat at all so it just became a twitch chat meme fest
The entire meeting was just people arguing in circles for a couple hours and then making decisions off of who slin thought talked the loudest, if you didn't listen to the end where slin explained what was being banned/unbanned you would have absolutely no clue what decisions were actually made

ADMITTEDLY MY LAZY ASS WASN'T AT THE MEETING BUT HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS
- I wasn't even playing TF2 during the Quick Fix LAN, but it isn't hard to see that the fundamental issues/mechanics with the QF still remain and that stalemates will continue. I think Rando's post summed it up pretty fucking well especially considering he has experience with it.
- It is absolutely mind boggling to me that the Soda Popper was unbanned. I'm sure other HL players will chime in on it, but during its usage in UGC there were a ton of graphs and charts showing that it was almost a straight upgrade over stock, and that wasn't even including the gimmick jump mechanic that you get for just playing the scout class. So you unbanned an (almost) straight upgrade over stock with a gimmick mechanic which is almost all the Atomizer was banned for.
- I don't really mind the Solemn Vow or Pomson, but I do feel like they weren't unneeded as well and were unbanned just for the sake of it (I'm sure we all read the previous thread). PERSONALLY, I think the SV just lowers the *potential* skill ceiling of TF2 in that any medic with arms can now just look around instead of actually keeping track of health economies in fights which typically was something only top level teams did.
Edit - Just found out that the Solemn Vow allows you to see enemy uber %s as well which tips the scale for me. At that point, it does absolutely NOTHING but lowers the gamesense based skill ceiling of the game.

Can we just go back to banning almost everything and only have Kritz, Ubersaw, Pain Train, Gunboats, Boston Basher and Original allowed?
I think this would make the game less aids and then we could all stop arguing about what retard unlocks should/shouldn't be allowed.

MikeMatI know its only gonna happen like once, but I'm gonna be so tilted when I get dropped pushing last cuz our med gets pomson'd for 1%
honestly if someone pulls that off i'd say they deserve, it would have to be angled perfectly not to just hit the people in front of the med

Also soda popper
1. worse than stock for dm 90% of the time unless you have aimbot, similar to the shortstop.
2. Farm 350 damage to fly around for 10 seconds
?????? I dont see the big deal

For anyone not at the meeting, these unbans were very heavily discussed and are not necessarily going to stick. I don't necessarily agree or disagree with any of the decisions, but many of the people talking during the meeting didn't want to unban these items. They are going to playtest to see how much they are used, and if they are, if it affects the flow of the game in a negative way. Similar to last change when the base jumper and atomizer were unbanned, and after like 2 days of people scrimming with it, it got rebanned. That's just my 2 cents on the subject.

But actually, I dont understand why a game mode that's already stalematey as fuck is allowing even more weapons that make the game even slower.

Although I respect your pro-wildlife stance do you have to throw the highly inexperienced admin running the highest profile NA lan for a long time to the wolves quite so brutally?

seriously like 5 times they mentioned "we want to test some of the less horribly broken weapons; unbanning them in leagues is the only reliable way to test them, and considering we were able to reban the atomizer in 2 days we feel comfortable in our ability to reban weapons as necessary"
tho i do agree that changing the whitelist right before a lan is questionable, I also have no doubt that scheduling conflicts were a real bitch.

Samiface wasn't at the meeting so this all needs to be discussed with her. I'm not going one way or the other but I figured this is at least an option for her to choose from. I'm not throwing her anywhere. We agreed to a week of testing prior to the LAN.
My post isn't very detailed I just figured people who couldn't attend the meeting would watch the relevant VODS before jumping to conclusions.
As I mentioned before I really don't care what you guys do I'm just trying to organize a meeting so we can reach a decision. People don't understand that I don't play in leagues anymore so I don't have a horse in this race. I'm using my own personal social capital to get relevant parties in a room so that you guys can have the unlocks you do/don't want for next season. I provided minimal input on weapon selections and let you guys make the decisions. Anyone who attended the meeting or watched the VODs can see this plainly. Yes I have my own opinions but I didn't push for the quick fix unban and if rando doesn't want it next season he is entitled to his opinion as well right?
I've made it abundantly clear that the respective admins are in charge of their own leagues and events. I'm just a neutral third party to this who is only involved because I believe the best thing for the TF2 community is to have everyone using the same unlocks. Hope this helps.
