I did a second major in music in college and I swear every course had to start with this "what is music" discussion, which is pointless imo because the difference between noise and music is totally subjective.

I WANT to say that none of the sounds or the parts of the Grateful Dead song that I listened to are music, but that is because I don't like them. I prefer my music to have the tones, chord progressions, pitches, rhythms, etc. from traditional Western music that I am used to, otherwise it is difficult for me to enjoy or find meaning/expression in it. But just because I don't like/understand them, doesn't mean that they're not music... So I guess I would conclude that they are all music because they are all sounds, and all sounds could be considered music.

as for the actual sounds, I only found the ones with the piano to sound vaguely like music. it might just be because the first two are played with really weird rhythms.

Music is "Organized Sound". All it needs is a start and an end. This piece, entitled 4:33 by John Cage is an example of it. To say something is 'music' is entirely subjective beyond this definition. An Indonesian Gamelan sounds nothing like western music but it sure is music.

Sound 1: I consider this one to be musical. What I feel makes this sound to be considered music is because it has kind of a natural tone to it like a drum or other percussion instrument. It doesn't have a constant tone and intensity that would otherwise be considered noise

Sound 2: I consider this one to be noise. What I feel makes this sound to be considered noise is the fact that it starts and ends off exactly at the same tone and intensity, never changing in between. In the simple terms it feels manufactured/fake.

Sound 3: I consider this one to be musical. Like the first sound, it has a natural tone and progression to it. It's obviously a piano playing a note, which makes the association to music much more easier to make. The sound doesn't have a constant tone and the intensity decreases as the sound fades out.

This song I guess can be considered musical, despite it consisting of random noises (natural and manufactured/fake noises). There's a certain "melody" to the song with different tones, intensities, and the obvious vocal element to the song. There isn't a real progression to the song, but there's definitely a musical element to the song

it's all music, anything can be music in the same way anything can be called 'art'.

Sound 1 - music (Sounded like it could be a beat in a song or something).
Sound 2 - noise (Sounds like a dial tone, not really musical).
Sound 3 - music (Sounds like it originated from a musical instrument).

Section 2 (rhythmic pattern):

Sound 1 - noise (Sounded like some random object was tapping against a door or wall or something. More like it was being randomly moved by the wind or something rather than being performed by a person. Maybe if other music was added to it, it could sound like the beat to a song, but on its own it just sounded like noise).

Sound 2 - noise (Just sounded like a phone was freaking out, not music).

Sound 3 - music (Because it sounds like it came from an instrument intended to create music, this note will always sound like music (whether that music sounds good or not is something else entirely)).

Section 3: Repeated Pattern

Sound 1 - music (Sounds like the beat to a song).

Sound 2 - noise (Sounds like a dial tone again).

Sound 3 - music (Comes from an instrument, it is music).

The I would consider that Grateful Dead song music (albeit not any music I enjoy listening to), but only as a whole piece. Only because there is a voice singing some sort of melody (i.e. a recognizable instrument) does it count as a song for me. Everything in the background is just random noise, however when combined with the voice, the whole thing becomes music.
