New Map Cup: Day 1

This is it. Day 1 of the teamfortress.tv New Map Cup, sponsored by marketplace.tf. Twenty-four teams (including five Invite teams) will be playing for a $500 prizepool, but they have to make it past Day 1 before they’re even close to being in the money! Saturday includes matches between four groups of six teams in a round robin format, where the top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs on Day 2. All matches will be played on…you guessed it, new maps! Maps that will be featured include cp_cardinal, cp_daytrip, cp_drudgery, cp_kalinka, cp_logjam, koth_bagel, koth_warmfront, and pl_tfcl!

More information is included in the news post about the tournament, but what you really need to know is that coverage for the tourney will be streamed over on teamfortresstv! Tune in at 7 EST on Saturday for all the new map action.

after two weeks of mapchamp i think most of us, the ones who played, can agree that TFCL needs ton of rework. I kinda like the idea of pl in 6s but this map doesn't really go with it :/ so expect chaos :D

really excited to see some organised gameplay on my map for sure, especially if it turns out to be top level, unless every team decides to ban it of course.... :--)

best of luck to all the teams, if you do end up playing drudgery, please feel free to take a look on the thread, it's got some design insight that might help you create some mids/some last pushes or defense (main advantage is to hold forward on last!) Plus I'm also always looking for feedback
