I tried using game capture source for TF2 and when I checked nothing was popping up on stream. It was just a black screen. I'm using capture specific window and executable name settings.
Do you run TF2 in fullscreen or windowed mode? It shouldn't matter either way, but may help narrow in on what's going on. Should note that it won't always appear in the OBS preview unless TF2 is in focus.

Hello my friend, I had same problem as you, what I do to fix is enable multi adapter compatibility, but there are also many other problems, so I just switched to obs classic
Do you have multiple GPUs? For instance, Optimus on a laptop, or Lucid Virtu on a desktop?
Game Capture doesn't work correctly if the game is being rendered with a different GPU than the one trying to capture it.

I don't think I run tf2 as admin. I just click play on the steam client.

Do you mean the preview is black, or the actual stream? I had this issue before. Why don't you just use window capture, capture specific window, then specify tf2.exe?
