Format & Rules
The tournament will start with the round robin group stage, where each team will play each other once in a best-of-two map series similar to what you find in ETF2L League. Uniquely, these maps will be decided via a system crafted by ilosu (the TF2 tournament admin) which is similar to a 'Home and Away' format.
Teams will nominate a map at the start of the tournament that they will play multiple times against all of the teams throughout the group stage, or an easier way to put it: their 'Home' map. However they must also play the opposing team's 'Home' map in that same best-of-two fixture. Two teams can't share the same 'Home' map, so to avoid this, top seeded teams will nominate from the available maps in the map pool before the lower seeded teams.
There are three rounds in the group stage altogether. Two games will be played at the same time during each round. teamfortress.tv will cherry pick the game considered best to stream.
After that, the maps are tallied up and teams will be seeded into a double elimination bracket playoffs based on the amount of points they win during the group stage. Teams will win three points for every map win, one point for every map draw and finally no points for every map loss. No golden caps allowed. If there is a tie, the winner will be determined by the following criteria: Head-to-Head record > Tiebreaker Score > Rounds scored.
All matches in the playoffs are best-of-threes with maps being selected with a ABBA ordered pick & ban system again similar to what you see in ETF2L. The grand finals also be a best-of-three.
The ruleset for Gamer's Assembly will be a European ruleset. 5CP maps will have a thirty minute time limit & a five round win difference, and KotH maps will have a three round win limit.
Finally, the event will be using the same ole' familiar version of the weapons whitelist from ETF2L, which can be viewed at here.
