so does anyone know what the tftv staff and shade were saying about eachother? i'm watching the stream in class so i don't have sound lol
the free market has rewarded the superior stream
step up your game tftv

I'm not an expert at tv analytics or anything, but as a viewer, the shade stream is a much more entertaining cast to watch. It's fun, it's fresh, and it has seasoned veterans enjoying themselves while giving accurate commentary on a game they enjoy. Shades stream has literally no competition. This shit is hot, and tftv1 is not... https://clips.twitch.tv/PatientDaintyDugongDuDudu
tftv needs more celebrity appearances and excessive alcohol consumption
also while we're at it, saam pls don't use bug's eye view 3rd person
Like I said in the chat, none of the casters are mad at shade. It really sucks that cornpop put all this work into the cast (including convincing 4 playoff invite players to do analysis) abd we get fucked because stv goes down and we lose 60% of our viewers to someone more entertaining to watch than a one minute collection of stv smooths
What did we say about shade? There might have been a few sarcastic jokes made in twitch chat, but I don't give a shit if another stream is more popular than ours. At the end of the day viewer count is just a number underneath the stream. I'm more concerned with the quality of the cast, and that the people who are watching are enjoying the game.
i mean, i'm not a caster, just a viewer, but i was mad at shade because (among other reasons) he said "if tftv hosts us i'll do a giveaway" during the broken stv lull and dozens of people from his stream came and flooded chat saying "HOST SHADE HOST SHADE HOST SHADE" etc. which was really kind of disappointing, not to mention the large number of people going into tftv chat just to say "go to shade's channel he's live " and then not saying anything else at all
it felt like he was purposefully drawing viewers away from tftv and i don't feel that that's ok, but what do i know, ya know?

It's still a rule among tftv casters not to swear, or be offensive, or be funny about random shit in order to give the most "professionnal" experience. That's not the only thing people want apparently.
I still dream about a tf2 event like the starcraft homestory cup, where it would just be a non stop shitfest.

Enjoyed the stream anyway when I was pleasantly surprised to see it on after I woke in euro peen land this morning
So good job
So good job
Shade is entertaining, but the quality of his casts is no where near the quality of tftv. Some people are only in it for the entertainment, and some of us want a quality, professional cast.
I'm just glad that people are watching TF2 and that we drew in such big numbers.

Go watch any pre 2013 cast or any DJC cast. Thats what all of them used to be like.

I really enjoyed his older casts before he started streaming so much (and before he got drunk and started to use his marketing skills to bait people with raffles and giveaways and shit) because they were a lot more serious. Don't get me wrong, his stuff now is super entertaining and I don't really blame him for it but to me it seems that he's selling out and trying to manipulate the twitch viewers, whereas before he was just doing it for the love of the game.
edit: like this solo cast he did a few seasons ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFgLnCuzGPs

Tftv also needs to cast games for the sake of vods on youtube, Shade doesn't upload his streams on his youtube channel.
Also I thought cornpop did a great job keeping the energy in even though marmaloo sounded very asleep at times (sorry)

I don't think he was trying to manipulate views
1. He is going to dreamhack in austin for a while and won't be able to stream during that time
2. the giveaways in terms of money was a clear joke. "2,000, 100,000, etc. all these different numbers if he reached 1,000 viewers when it clearly wasn't going to happen. also any other giveaways that did happen were ones that were up in the past.
3. this is potentially the last season of invite (idk if people are just saying it for a scare or not) but why not go out with a bang bringing in other dudes that did a fantastic job staying into the game and making the stream entertaining
4. also i think he wouldn't have as many viewers if the stv was up right away, i was actually planning on watching the tftv version (and i did at times but i was gonna watch it there full time) But with the stv down and shade being able to get a pov for the first map really helped him get his popularity
I will say that he did manipulate tftv view amount, but not as much or with intent as I feel you might be saying

I don't mean a simple cast, of course it's boring, but an event at a house with 24 players, alcohol and a casting couch
Anyway as JdawgManiac said it's good to provide choice to viewers.
ps : love you marxist :3

I actually preferred the tftv cast more than shade's cast. I just like to watch serious, professional games casted by serious, professional casters more.

Thanks, that means a lot. I'm not going to lie, it was really discouraging to me to be getting out-viewed by shade even with all the work that was put into the stream, like getting 4 playoff invite players to do analysis. I guess it's just representative of the direction the game has been heading.
