cause people already have 3DS' i guess and they like money, hence switch port for pokken
might still turn out a decent game but sure is a half assed effort to not make a swith version, then again wouldnt be the first time they support old handhelds to ensure higher playerbase, already happened with black/white and BW2 which still were good games but could have easily been 3ds games if they wanted to

I think it's interesting how they've gone from creating a third slightly different game (Yellow, Crystal, etc.) into creating two slightly different games. I guess they're continuing the trend from gen 5. Black and White 2 were really cool though, and actually felt worth buying a whole new game to me with all the added features. It made gen 5 one of my favorites. I don't get the hate that B2/W2 received when a game like Emerald was a lot less different from the original game it was based off of, and yet it got so much praise.
I really hope that US/UM are going to be as different from S/M as Black 2 and White 2 were from their parent games. I loved gen 7 a lot, and I really hope it can make me love it more.

Everybody thought B2/W2 was for sure going to be on the 3DS, but instead they went onto the DS to expand its lifetime a bit longer. The same thing is happening now, but with the 3DS and the switch instead.
However, I think we will see Gen 8 and Diamond/Pearl remake on the Switch in like 2018 and 2019.
