Hi tftv, I'm building a super cheap PC and I'm trying to get it under $150(yes I know it's not going to be amazing or anything and I don't care about running new games, only tf2 and csgo.) and I'm buying parts one at a time since I'm a teenager and don't have a lot of money to spend, I was wondering if I would be able to play matches/scrim with 2 gigs of ddr2 ram for a week or two without wanting to kms. The CPU is an AMD Phenom 2 X4 945 @3.4ghz.
EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm upgrading a prebuilt.

I do know someone who did play on a similar system and he got around 10-20fps on dx8 with an FPS config. So not recommended. Looking at the chip you named it will support up to dual channel DDR2-1066 or DDR3-1333
Look around for an old 2nd hand office tower with an i3 or pentium anniversary edition g3258 or similar + 4gb ddr3 (dell optiplex are a good thing to search for). Then get an old 2nd hand GPU you should be able to get something like a 680/770 within your price limit.
This will obviously depend what is out there within your local area for second hand parts, plus in general the more time you spend looking the cheaper you will find thing to an extent, dont be afraid to haggle. Just remember you need more than a cpu and a gpu to make a PC, dont forget to price in OS (could be free), Motherboard, PSU, case, ram, storage. If you do buy a 2nd hand tower check what is included in it.

No. You will hate yourself because it will run like garbage and you wasted money. It's not the ram that's the problem, it's mainly the CPU.

Good build for cheap. Salvage an HDD/case/PSU from an old prebuilt or something. Honestly, I don't know how old you are but my only advice to you is: get a job, save money.

yes
also the guy above is legit braindead that cpu will run tf2 perfectly well

just get a job and save money
any CPU that will run tf2 will already be a third of your budget, trying to build for 150 is setting yourself up for disappointment

just save up money and wait longer, youre probably looking at 30 fps tops with a dx8 config, maybe 60 on mge

pretty similar to the 1st PC I started playing HL with. A Phenom 2 X4 940 black edition overclocked to @3.2GHz
Yes, tf2 will run on that. If you play HL expect 45-70fps on midfights, if 6s 70-90fps on midfights with a FPS config, and no hats mod, running Dx8. Also pls don't spend more than like $60 on this the phenom 2 X4 945 is a roughly 9 year old cpu, and DDR2 hasn't been used in even mid-range PCs since about 2008/09 (just to clarify don't spend more than $60 on an entire PC that contains those parts)
