it was a military coup started because of the US basically fucking chile's economy because the president wouldn't cooperate and resulted in years of rule under a repressive military junta
i remember reading about this in The House of the Spirits (which i would recommend, great book),and there was also a BBC documentary about it (the other 9/11)
