Insomnia61 format revealed

As the European community descends on the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England, the details of the annual Insomnia LAN event have been announced.

Similar to previous years, the tournament will feature both open and invite teams fighting for the title of Europe's best team. Open teams will compete in four-team round-robin groups, with the top team in each group advancing to the playoffs.

The invited teams will compete in two round-robin groups of four, with all teams being seeded into the playoffs. Each series will be two maps, with map wins awarding two points and map ties awarding a single point.

The invite groups are as follows:

Group A

Se7en (invited)
Lowpander (invited)
ANTIC (invited)
No Input (qualified)

Group B

SVIFT (invited)
Ascent.EU (invited)
nunya (invited)
Weebtunnel Tactics (invited)

At the conclusion of group play on Friday, the eight invite teams will join the eight open group winners in the upper bracket of the double-elimination playoffs. Similar to prior Insomnia LANs, bracket play will feature a best-of-five grand finals (with no upper bracket advantage) and best-of-three series in the rest of the tournament.
