I keep trying to get my TF2 to switch to 4:3 resolution, and when i used cfg.tf to get my new cfg, i set it to 4:3 and 1920x1440 because the one before didn't fit the screen and stretched offscreen.
It keeps switching my game back to 16:9 whenever i use anything over what is available in game.
No resolution i try seems to work, and despite having everything set up in the AMD control panel, it keeps either going back to 16:9 or stretching offscreen.
Also i am changing the resolution from launch options because all of the options in game stretch offscreen.
I can't find any tutorials for AMD and i dont know how to fix it alone, any advice or help is appreciated.

FreudTry setting resolution to 1440x1080 instead?
Same issue, some of it was going off screen, and the aspect ratio was 16:10, not 4:3.

under display in your radeon settings, full display should work with tf2 at 4:3
doing it for specific games/programs usually doesn't work for me

You could just set your resolution and fullscreen using launch options.

And my launch options are..
-dxlevel 81 -fullscreen -w 1440 -h 1080 -console -novid -high
I can change resolution if needed.

go to your physical monitor options (buttons IRL) and browse there a bit, there should be an option
its better to enable stretching in your monitor instead of drivers if possible

speedyturn gpu scaling off
Ok, i did this and it did the same thing with 1440x1080, probably because the resolution simply isnt the right size, because when i used 1600x1200, my monitor blackscreened and said "no video available" or something along those lines, i assume this means i have to mess around with the monitor settings IRL like sage said?

Ok, so i think i may have an idea why it isn't working but i'm not sure, so i'm going to bump this thread.
Might it have something to do with my HUD not supporting 4:3? I've noticed on huds.tf that there are supported resolutions, i'll give it a try some time and see if it works.

it CANT be the hud, the hud has no control over the game resolution, an unsupported hud just means some things dont display correctly in specific aspect ratios
did you look in the monitor menu? most 1080p displays have an stretched option.
vid not specifically related but shows how to open a monitor menu

Yeah i tried with another HUD after the post with 4:3 supported and there was no difference.
I'm not sure if there is a way to bring up any kind of menu, but i can try to see online for any kind of references or just mess about with the screen for a bit incase i might be able to find it
