I am getting 200 ping on Virginia server and i live on east coast. i have less ping to eu servers than servers right next to me

does anybody know why this would be happening? i have gigabit internet so the speed is not a problem, on the speedtest i have 4 ping and 800 mbps down so i assume its not my isp but the game itself. i tried restarting, reconnecting and i still get 200 ping.

and when i ping the valve server in cmd i get
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 2ms, Maximum = 4ms, Average = 3ms

if anyone knows any solution it would be helpful thank you

Do a tracert and look up the IPs - it sounds like something wacky is happening to your routing. It happens sometimes where certain hubs are down or damaged and you get routed to some crazy place.

My favorite one i ever had happen was with NFO servers, wherein I was being routed from Indiana, to Washington D.C. and THEN to Chicago - giving me 150 ping to a server I could feasibly walk to in a few days. It should clear up eventually.

The same thing is happening to me with Virginia servers, living literally 30 minutes from where the servers are. Its only happening on Valve servers, community servers are still fine.

Go to your TF2 local files, open platform/config, delete network_config.cached.json and network_config.json. Then verify game files and launch the game and see what happens. If it's still bad, you might have to modify the network_config.json.
