It's intended for NA players, but EU players like cloudy have been playing and getting picked.

Since it's a captain based system, you can always add up but don't expect to get picked unless you're known in the HL scene

as someone who watches pretty much every "A" Pug of this service, I don't understand how EU's got Captain over any other NA player. It just makes pugs rolls as EU's have no clue who NA players are, or, as mustard said, they pick their EU buddies and just get rolled.

It just slows this service down.

How does having people who play the new site and are willing to captain slow the service down? :D

Looking up for scrambled in the last 10 games he won six of them and his eurofriends did well.

And i listened to the euro captain pick, and clark was pointing out who are the best at their class available while picking the euros last. So i don't think the presence of us is as one-dimensional as you present it. We don't add up to get rolled lol.

There were only two pugs that were captained by European players, one by kosuke where the entire team did bad even though he picked a bunch of invite players on key classes. The other one captained by myself where people got upset that I first picked the only player that had played sniper at any capacity on sniper, but people didn't recognize him as he was an EU player, he also struggled on ping (some players do, some don't, even then he still coped at dealing with the enemy sniper). Regardless we played a 5cp map for the full 30 minutes pushing one another to each last multiple times resulting in a final score of 2-1.

But if you wanna just discriminate against players based on what region they come from that's cool.

Also, the very fact that I can play EU style aggro heavy with medics that don't know how to heal heavies and still consistently do work and win games on 200 ping means that none of these pugs are anywhere near as high level as some toxic players think they are. Stop being so elitist about playing highlander in a mix format, it's retarded.

If there are any euros / NA players that are absolute garbage on captain it'll show.
Even though you could notice some players not being able to hold their weight, games I've played were really fun and balanced.
As for me, in all my games I got picked by NA captains who I didn't know before the matches.

Its in the works, right now the devs are focusing on the launch of the NA site.

If they expand to EU they create a greater pool of potential donors, as one of the donors I hope they do expand :)

ok i really don't care how good of a player you are, if you're from EU, you don't know who the vast majority of the player base is - NA plat players. if you don't know how good most of the players are and decide to pick ur euro buddies bcuz u know them, even if you know they aren't very good, then you shouldn't have captain.

back on topic, hlpugs.tf is a lot more successful than i thought it would be. every night there's routinely 60+ people on the site, and last night there actually weren't any servers available because there were already 4 pugs going on. that's 72 players playing pugs, plus there were 22 added up that were waiting. there are a few bugs here and there, but nothing major.

There's literally not one example of this happening, but I appreciate that if people did do that it would be a problem, and as a result there are rules against picking like that, regardless of nationality.

i mean even if there's only 1 example of it, it's irrelevant because theoretically every NA plat player would know more about captaining NA based HL pugs than any EU player. yet most NA plat players don't have captain, so it doesn't make sense why any EU player does.

From my perspective as a EU player who enjoyed most of the games I played on this website, this pug: http://sizzlingstats.com/stats/534925, was lost before the game had even begun because a few people who I don't remember the names of, spent good 10 minutes complaining and arguing (to their fellow americans, mind you!) about bad picks and continued doing so after the game had already started.

And, yes, scrambled is correct: there aren't any examples where EU players did worse than their NA counterparts, and in the pug above pretty much everyone played terribly, not just Europeans.

Ok, I just finished talking to Nicell and brought up a couple of points to him, a lot that were ignored because there's nothing they can do, but I told him that these things would be foreseeable in the future.

One point was the captains and how there aren't enough. I was told that there are plenty of captains, and that pugs would not die. I gave a literal example that happened TODAY where 36+ players were added for a solid half hour and no singular captain was added up, and we had to wait for another pug to end for those captains to add up as one. I then proposed a solution to this by either auto-picking a captain after a certain amount of players added up, or asking for volunteers, and was then told to "not worry about it".

I then brought up the point about the skill-level of captains. Let me remind you that there are a lot of specific captains chosen to be captains, and the number of pug wins do not matter at the moment. Go ahead and look at the stats of the pug overview page, it's incredibly inconsistent on who and who doesn't have captain, and Nicell refused to explain this. I was told that a ton of people have captain and that people still complain about bad picks, and responded that he should just do an ultimatum and just make every high-skill level player or leader a captain. He disagreed, saying it was a bad idea, and I responded saying that if he thought it was a bad idea, to just do it to prove a point to these players, since all Platinum players have been asking this for a while. If he's wrong, a win for the service. If he's right, then he proves a point, and the playerbase will try to figure out another solution. He disagreed and told me to move on.

I brought up other issues that weren't a big deal like the site UI, and how the chat isn't really well properly placed, as it's a pop-up window that a lot of people don't even read, etc, but those aren't major things. (The site is in beta, but it's still potential to be an issue)
He disagreed with every possible issue I brought up EXCEPT for EU players being an issue, saying that it will be "looked at". That's it, that's all, and the conversation was ended right around there. Let me point out, though, that my rant towards nicell did include a couple of curse-words like "fucking", and was told that it "accusatory" because of that.

edit: I actually talked to Nicell again, and I came off as an ass. All is good.
