the account you should probably shell the 20 bucks for, i've certainly made the most of that money these years...

as for the server, just like how you can get a free mumble server so long as you make active use of it, you can get a free minecraft server that can be fully modded, run on spigot, which uses the bukkit api, its mods, etc.

however you tend to have to wait in a queue, that in my experience isn't terribly long, during prime hours before children go to bed.
