it messes with vac and unfortunately there's no workaround.

Used to be a common issue (a while back it would happen to me every other week)
Delete everything in your steam folder but your steamapps and steam.exe and start steam again.

KEVCHEVi just removed the no hats texture mod, im going to restart then verify my game files brb
did this. problem went away. then i reinstalled the no hats mod and didnt have a problem which was weird.
nonetheless i am fre :)

i had the same problem last week when i reinstalled my computer.
i tried every fix in that article, and i still had the issue. i ended up reinstalling TF2 a couple times and booting the game up with no autoexec and it fixed.
