"There are no plans to extend League registration after the originally announced date. If we could get ~25 teams in Intermediate and 50 in Open then I think we could have a successful ecosystem. Any less and I would worry about there being too many dead teams."

Make sure you tell any of your more inexperienced friends/ players you encounter that the newbie drive is happening. We have like 51 posts but could do more.

Tell your UGC friends to play open. If they care about improving it's the fastest way to do so. I've mentored several UGC players and every time I tell them to play ESEA their reaction is usually, "Am I good enough to play ESEA?" Yes, everyone is, that is why the league is open to all. Maybe if we try to stomp out that misconception this season we can get IM back.

i mean there's also the client being dogshit, two matches a week being double the time commitment, getting rolled by teams that are way better than you etc.

If the UGC teams actually play they'll only just get rolled for the initial scheduling block (weeks 1+2, maybe 3) then they will be matched against teams of similar skill level for the rest of the season. The skill level of the open division as a whole would go down, encouraging even more lower level teams to register. Now it's all about the initial push for less experienced teams (newbie mix, etc).

So just for reference, 25 teams is all of plat, all of silver, and half of steel being poached from UGC 6s and put into esea.
