I remember an update that caused my game to be phongless before they patched it out and I really liked it. I just assumed the skins don't work on sv_pure servers so I didn't bother downloading the pack.

What's the thing with sv_pure servers? Also, did this also improve your gameplay?

servers with sv_pure enabled on them do not allow you to use custom skins so that it makes it harder for people to cheat.

It's a neat aesthetic change, but it also seems to make characters "pop" less against the scenery.

But if you use it, you're just pubbing, so whatever tickles your fancy.
