wait times to get into servers (for a SINGLEPLAYER GAME) is ridiculous
wait times to get into servers (for a SINGLEPLAYER GAME) is ridiculous
I've been playing it since 10pm tuesday night pretty much nonstop (except for when im forced to come in to work... where i spend most of the day reading about everything im doing wrong) and its really fkin fun. I got lucky and somehow was set on a euro server by default so I havent had to wait in any of the queues people on reddit are losing their shit over...
I have been making a private server bc i dont trust random people but I think it would be awesome to have another person or two in my world with me to share resources n shit. I'm actually starting a brand new world after work today (since I have learned even more about how horribly I designed my prev worlds) and plan on streaming it if you want to see a city building retard try to get it right this time (this is my 3rd world in 2 days - I am really fkin bad at this game)
If you end up playing and want to play alone at first - dont join a NA server... I havent had a single problem or waited in a single queue with Europe East 1.

I pre-ordered the game, and wasn't able to get it fully playable until last night. I haven't played any of the other SimCity's, so I wouldn't know how it compares, but I found it pretty fun and engaging. I played by myself on a self-created map, but I imagine the game would be exponentially more enjoyable playing with other players, as the game seems to support cooperation between cities. So from a beginner's perspective, the game is pretty fun, not sure if it appeals to veterans of the series though.

Honestly, save yourself some money and play an older version. Maybe I am just too annoyed at the idea of logging into a server to play a single player game that has less options than the counterparts, or it's the fact that I can't stand EA, but I just don't feel like the game is worth it at all.

EA is like the uwe boll of the video game industry

if you can get into a server that doesnt crash or get bugged, then it's really fun. life would be great if i didnt have to get on a goddamned EA server to play it

LOL, I assumed that they would act that way, glad I wasn't disappointed. This server side single player shit to stop pirating is just plain getting stupid. Not to mention most games don't even have demos anymore, so they just expect you to buy a game and hope for the best.

When people will stop supporting shady work ethics and policies coming from terrible developpers, they'll have to change. Until then, we can enjoy our wodnerful DRM and other weird ass stuff to "prevent piracy".

I think the game is very well made, the servers are a problem right now but that wont always be the case.
I am about to go live, if anyone wants to check it out. Ill probably be streaming it for a couple hours. I don't entirely know what i am doing yet, but i am learning. I still think it was worth the buy

Very well made, maybe, but they also "allow" you to buy a DLC already. That means it was already made and removed to increase profit. The game itself already will cost 80 bucks to get most things, why would one pay for a DLC now that should've came with the game? One of the best things about sim City was dicking around building things then sometimes destroying the town.
Steam forum
- $80 to get the full game are you kidding me?
-$60 for limited edition which is missing content
- Always online- now before people tell me to get better internet let me tell that I will never deal with always online again after diablo 3. I have 35/35 fiber optic from verizon and diablo 3 was a lag fest, I died many times cause my character rubber banded. I do not want this bs on my game.
In addition Simcity is one of those games you can play on your laptop when bored and since your laptop usually doesn't have a internet connection, goodbye play session.
- No save system everything is over the internet. Ya no game ever messed up my save files by using some sort of cloud service /sarcasm.
- gameplay while improved in some cases was dumbed down IN MANY others.
I would have liked to get the game, only thing I would have accepted is origin exclusive, hell I would have payed $80 but knowing EA they will spew out $100 or more worth of dlc just like they did with sims 3.

They're made that way because people accept half games, if you do not allow it they would be forced to change.

Didn't Ubisoft try this with one of the Assassin's Creeds and some group just made a server emulator? I'm guessing that'll happen again.

Yeah, whenever a game has extreme DRM, the game usually ends up being pirated more often. For example, Spore was #1 torrented for an entire year even though it wasn't even a very good game, especially playing alone.

Trying to prevent something that can't be stopped will simply hurt their legitimate consumer base and in the end, cause more loss than gains.
It was proven time and times again that someone pirating a game is not a lost sale because that person probably didn't have the intention to buy the game in the first place. Trying to prevent that with shady DRM will just hurt people who want to buy and support EA. Always online is stupid as heck and in the end, hurts their consumers because people who pirated the game will find a work around probably easily.

At least Sims 3 is a good game. Though I do agree on the seemingly infinite DLCs they released for it.

Good luck convincing the majority of gamers to not buy into this kind of shit.

I'll just dust off my copy of Sim City 4. Don't want to mess with the new game.

That's why I pirate games and only pay for the ones that are worth it. I'm not ashamed to admit it. If you want my $60 make a game that's worth $60. You hit the nail on the head with this shit game Fzero.

Really, it's 60 / 80 dollars in america? That's a lot but ..
We have to pay the same, but then in euros. €60 limited edition and €80 for "deluxe".
So unfair... Didn't buy it though, and not planning on doing so. :(
€1 ≠ $1

Apparently, you can use Dropbox to make SC4 multiplayer.
SC5 is now completely pointless.
