Mumble not working

I played my first pug yesterday. After waiting forever for two medics to join, the pug started, all was well, but I couldn't connect to the mumble server.

I had installed the mumble right before I entered the pug. I put the address and port in, quintuple checked it with the other people in the pug, but nothing they suggested worked.

I was using the backwards compatible version, and I'm certain I had everything typed in. But every time I tried to join, I got this message:

Server connection failed: The remote host closed the connection.

Could somebody help me fix this?

That usually means you're banned/blocked. That error means the server is rejecting you for whatever reason. You can try changing your certificate or changing your username though.

TechnobladeI was using the backwards compatible version

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that could be the problem? I remember having people having trouble while using the backwards compatible version.

Would there be any way to test what you guys are saying without pissing everyone in the pug off in the event it doesn't work?

:( don't want to go through that again

Yes. Do it when you're not pugging.

Maybe you put the info in the wrong fields? I know sometimes I accidentally put the address in the label field, and then I get the same error.

Heres the format I put it in:

Label: tf2mix
Address: mumble.atf2.org
Port: 64738
Username: Techno
Password: (blank)

I don't understand why I would be banned, I had never used the service before.

I have no idea what the problem could be, my only advice is to reinstall mumble.

Yeah, it's probably this.
I couldn't connect to anything with the backwards compatible version.

...You can join a mumble server whenever you want. The one that TF2mix uses should have ample extra slots for you to just join sometime to test whether you can connect or not.

Are you using the Mumble11x.exe so its launching mumble 1.1? if so that is the problem, it does not work anymore so you have to just use mumble.exe instead
