Anyone got any tips to add a bit more flavour to rice? I really enjoy black rice and brown rice but I'm finding it hard to add some flavour to it with seasonings, maybe I'm just not using enough? I hate being white.

most people don’t just eat rice by itself, but if you want a mainly rice dish there’s always stuff like spanish rice, taco rice, fried rice, jambalaya.
My mom once added one of those chicken broth cubes to rice and it tasted pretty good, you could try that if you wanted
If you have the time you could make biryani, which is basically rice cooked with your choice of meat
I forgot what it’s called but there’s a type of rice where you just add some cooked veggies like green beans, peas, carrots, and corn. But you would usually eat this with something else

my mom used to put salt in the water when making rice... i dont think i will ever understand why
What about rice noodles? You could use it for almost anything and it tastes good. If you wanna try stirfry, just add rice noodles, soy sauce, and sugar. Then add anything you'd think would fit

Agreed to the broth idea, although you can do it with lots of similar seasonings. If you can add seasoning during the cooking, it's much better than adding it afterwards, and it might take a little bit more to do so, but you can spread it out a lot more evenly.
I usually cook the things I eat with my rice (like meats, tofu, vegetable) all together with sauces and seasonings in the pot, although you could do the same thing with stir frying; it's all preference.

boil water
add salt
add rice
drain after 10 minutes
I've recently started using chicken broth/stock to boil rice. As long as you don't make it too salty it's tasty af

S tier - sushi rice, wild rice
okay tier - everything else
I find myself eating less carbs nowadays and therefore less rice but I would also like to second the post about the rice noodles. really convenient stuff, much rather make a stir fry/ramen with those than make rice
