Hello everyone the I am here to announce that the cuties have created a Deathmatch server for Highlander players based on what is feasible. This is a pretty large step away from regular TF2 gameplay, this is a more hectic, less team-based TF2 experience, focusing a lot more on your DM skills, than on the normal team-oriented play of regular TF2.

So far we have removed the heavy and engi but added one more soldier and scout since those two are picked alot.
Any feed back would much appreciate it. Also taking request for DM maps

This is literally the best thing I've heard of in a while. You may want to consider banning spy knife so they can just practice revolver dm and save everyone else the awfulness of random spying. Also banning medi gun would be good too. Otherwise thank you for making something that I have been wishing for since I've been in comp!

yup. pyro dm is really difficult to practice.

difficult.
you should keep medic on because dm is really important for needles/crossbow btw.

I just played on it for a while. It seems pretty good overall! A few maps felt very spammy at times with both teams having two soldiers, like regular soap dm but with every other class as well... overall though I really enjoy the concept and I'm gonna be coming back.

MR_SLINIsn't this just a pub server with no objectives
Implying DM servers have objective other than DM?
Its nothing more than DM server on HL maps with pyro and spy allowed. Quick respawns, better players. No ojectives other than familiarizing yourself with the map and focusing one's DM

cool idea, with the right modifications, like: no cloak, no healing, no heavy, no engineer this could be fun

I'm legitimately confused about this.
Can't you get exactly the same experience by playing in a random fast-respawn pub?
I mean, it's cool I guess and if HL players think it's super useful then go for it, but HL is so heavily based on the balance between classes that removing the things that would break DM (buildings, heavy, knife) entirely changes the game and the DM style of a bunch of classes. Adding a second scout/soldier changes things even more.
I mean, it's cool practicing DM as your favorite class, but who in the world does this actually help, especially if heavy/engy are banned? Pyro/medic(no heals)/spy(no knife) are the only classes you can practice, and all of those can be practiced just as well in a random pub.
Then again, maybe I'm completely wrong and missing the point entirely, but it seems like the only classes that will truly benefit from this are pyro and spy mains, and neither will be able to really practice their DM to it's fullest effect in a server like this.

1. Heavy and Engie: Either limit what they can use, (no mini, shotgun only) or ban them. If somebody playing heavy REALLY has to practice, they're better off in a regular pub where unexpected things can happen. And sentry's don't have to work on their aim.
2. Reducing/removing damage from afterburn is probably a good idea. I get keeping the fire ON, for crit flares and axes, but beyond that, it's not too vital to DM.
3. Medic can heal? That kind of defeats the point of DM.
As an idea, it's nice. But concessions should definitely be given to skill ceilings of classes, and adjustments should be made to make those "EZmode" classes a little more difficult.

I feel like Spy DM can be practiced easily enough by just running Gunspy, DR, and Spycicle in a pub, but...
It's hard to practice pyro dm when there are heavies and sentries everywhere :<
Although it's also hard to practice Pyro dm when there is lots of lag.
Still, I think the exclusiveness of soap dm raises the level of players you'll face, and the chaos of random spawns means getting destroyed before you can get in flamethrower range isn't so much of an issue, and that's a big problem in large instaspawn pubs.
People say Pyro dm is easy but there are people who are bad at it, like me!

you're not going to get into flamethrower range in any sort of decent HL match either though. DM takes away the one really difficult part of playing pyro, which is getting into position to actually do damage.

I dunno. I can see what you mean, but I think there's a difference between the isolated 1v1s in SOAP, where you still have to navigate splash damage and corners and shit to get close, and getting mowed down by multiple Heavies and Mini-Sentries.

Like I said, if you think it'll work for you, go for it. I'm not one to shit on anyone for doing what they think will make them better. I'm just confused by it, with my limited HL knowledge.
