is there a site/service that is similar to netflix/hulu but for books and shit? Like an online library where I don't have to wait for other people to finish reading a book for me to be able to read it.

I dont think there is but This site helped me alot during high school, helped me self learn C and Python. I dont know if its blocked in your country or not

uhh check your local library's website for ebook rentals. i did that in high school, was easier than buying the books i needed for english or whatever.

they expire after a bit though :x

I've always had pretty good success with used book dealers unless you're looking for highly technical or very rare books (even then you can get them they're just not cheap). I just happen to prefer reading actual books, something about it helps me retain the information better.

If you're looking for things of the rarer or highly technical nature I'd deal directly with a library and see if they couldn't help you out with ebook rentals as suggested above or inter-library loan services.

There do appear to be e-book services like netflix, but most of the related articles are about how they're kind of a flop so I don't know if it's worth it or what sort of inventory they retain or what their stipulations are.

I usually just find pdfs that are hosted on some random russian site. Managed to read all of ringworld, foundation and the culture series doing this.
