Check if the modem has a firewall log, some go into a blocking mode if they detect portscans (even outgoing).

Whenever you open the TF2 server browser or Mumble server list, your PC will send out a bunch of UDP packets trying to get info on the servers, some stupid devices with built-in firewalls consider this port scanning and will block connections for a while.

bump i guess
i dont think i have any kind of firelog log since ive been trying to look for one for 2 months now and i've had 0 luck finding something like that in windows and/or my modem config page (or whatever u call when u put ur modem's ip in ur browser and u can change stuff there about ur modem), although i've been only looking for a "firewall log" not other kinds of logs maybe thats my issue

this has been a problem for me now since i have to wait like minutes til i finally join a discord voice channel or a tf2 server and its really annoying, esp now since i want to play the new tf2pl thing and because of my internet/modem issues i couldnt join and had to deal with a cooldown

any kind of specific intructions or any help in general would be greatly appreciated, would rather talk abt this on steam but feel free to post here anyways

ty

also this doesnt seem to happen in any other laptops or devices in my house so i would just like to point that out

more things i noticed, while some tf2 server i have to wait a bit to join, there's some servers that i can't simply join at all, like a few dm servers and ALL NA Tempus servers, idk what they all ahve in common but i can't connect to them at all so

i turned off my firewall, at least what my modem allows me to turn off on the firewall and SPI and ddos protection hoping that does something but nothing noticeable

nvm this also happens with other laptops and phones

sometimes when i search for servers it throttles everything else for a solid few minutes, possibly it could be that?
