Ah yes, this is always my favorite time of every ESEA season. There are fewer roster transactions, more upsets, and I get to start talking about PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS! Both Velocity eSports (7-4) and SVIFT NA (7-3) could use wins here to further distance themselves from Running with Scizors, who are clipping at their heels from 5th place at 6-5. SVIFT NA will face the 8K squad this week, while Velocity eSports will also have to stay on their toes against black swan. 2 wins this week would go a long way to securing a playoff spot for either team.
Now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk about this matchup. Last time these two teams met in ESEA, Velocity eSports narrowly overtook the SVIFT NA squad, winning a 4-3 on Snakewater. However, at the recent LAN Rewind 2, SVIFT NA destroyed Velocity in a 5-1, 5-0 fashion in their group stage meeting, though LAN is of course a very different environment.
