well if you want to play engie then you would have to play highlander, try checking out the ugc forums and their site, you will probably learn some stuff there :)

Highlander is nine players on each team, one of each class, with very lenient banlists. The other format, 6v6, bans the Gunslinger, so it's probably not what you're looking for. If you're new to competitive, you should try for an Iron or Steel team. Read the rules on how to make a LFT (Looking For Team) post, and also try out for them in the "teams looking for players" section.

There are a bunch of high-level Engineers who post POV videos on twitch and youtube. I'll link you all I can think of. Watching scrims and matches can give you a good idea of how Engineer, and a team as a whole, functions in competitive.

I do have some prior knowledge i guess then, I do know what highlander is, and I have watched some of it. Thanks for help so far, anything else you would recommend I look at?

Iron is the lowest division of highlander, for newer players. Steel is the next up, and it's considered the pubstomber division.

the divisions of play in ugc are named after metals. from lowest to highest, it goes: iron, steel, silver, gold, platinum. basically what theyre saying is, look for a team in the lower divisions since youre new. if you look in the looking for players section of the ugc forums there are often teams in those divs that specifically say theyll pick up new players to mentor

I usually define pubstomping as stacking teams in a pub, playing your main or classes you're good with in a pub and top scoring/winning, etc.

i disagree with some things, like the pistol being better for gunslinger than wrangler, and it's for pubs, so it doesn't say pomson is banned, and it was before the release of the rescue ranger, which is very good for defending with a level 3, but it's a pretty good rundown of the basics of the class
