So I just learned the origin of the term fragging. Pretty wack

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FraggingFragging is the deliberate killing or attempted killing by a soldier of a fellow soldier, usually a superior officer or non-commissioned officer (NCO). The word was coined by U.S. military personnel during the Vietnam War, when such killings were most often attempted with a fragmentation grenade,[2] sometimes making it appear as though the killing was accidental or during combat with the enemy. The term fragging is now often used to encompass any means used to deliberately and directly cause the death of military colleagues.

https://www.webopedia.com/TERM/F/frag.htmlThe word frag was first used in the Vietnam war, but there is some discrepancies as to the meaning of word from this time. Some references point to it being used to describe a soldier who was brutally killed by a grenade, while other resources state "to frag" is a term used in wartimes to describe the use of a fragmentation grenade "to cool the ardor of any officer or NCO too eager to make contact with the enemy".

Dark? It means there is still hope that grunts have enough balls to kill their overly zealous shitty officers in an unjust quagmire of a war.

Killing your fellow countrymen isn't the way to go about it. They're there for the same reasons as the homicidal soldier. If he had true balls he'd be going after the politicians and businessmen turning war into profit. Anything else is just taking out frustration on people who don't really deserve it and ultimately pointless because it doesn't make a statement, it's just meaningless murder.

Are you saying that a black conscripted dude from the bronx is in vietnam for the same reason as a career officer?
How naive tbh. Hell a lot of them didnt even expect to survive if their officer's plans go through.

wikiMost fragging was perpetrated by enlisted men against leaders. Enlisted men, in the words of one company commander, "feared they would get stuck with a lieutenant or platoon sergeant who would want to carry out all kinds of crazy John Wayne tactics, who would use their lives in an effort to win the war single-handedly, win the big medal, and get his picture in the hometown paper."[3]:84-85 Harassment of subordinates by a superior was another frequent motive. The stereotypical fragging incident was of "an aggressive career officer being assaulted by disillusioned subordinates." Several fragging incidents resulted from alleged racism between African-American and white soldiers. Attempts by officers to control drug use caused others. Most known fragging incidents were carried out by soldiers in support units rather than soldiers in combat units.[3]:61-122

And a reminder, there is not any other recourse a grunt has against an officer, and only decades before that you might even get decimated or be trialed in a military court in cases you can't possibly win and get strung up or shot, becuase some generals think thats the best way to boost an unit's morale.

So yea, killing overly zealous officers who are directly toying with their lives and forcing the us army to reform into an all volunteer army is a good thing and you should pay your respects to the fraggers of 'nam.

wikiThe breakdown of discipline, including fragging, was an important factor leading to the creation of an all-volunteer military force by the United States and the termination of conscription. The last conscript was inducted into the army in 1973.[8][9] The volunteer military moderated some of the coercive methods of discipline previously used to maintain order in military ranks.[3]:18

The Unites States technically does have a, "Volunteer Military", but in times of war that goes out the window, if we went to war with any other nation and needed bodies to fight the war conventionally, there would almost certainly be a draft.

Now, the extent of how lenient they are on a draft would definitely vary, however as the need for soldiers increases, the leniency on accepting those with disabilities/detriments starts to turn very grey
